At Detailed Image we are firm believers in bettering this world and the environment. We work hard to continuously improve our business while becoming more environmentally friendly at the same time. Please take a few moments to look at some of the positive changes we have made to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Packing Peanuts – These anti-static peanuts are 100% organic, so they are totally biodegradable even by the tough ISO definition. There are no petrochemicals used so they are completely safe for both the environment and people. They are even edible, although they taste quite bland. When these peanuts are disposed of, water quickly breaks them down into inert proteins that are readily absorbed by soil bacteria, making them some of the most environmentally friendly peanuts ever created.
Other Packing Materials – We receive hundreds of boxes each month that are often filled with traditional peanuts, bubble wrap, stuffing, etc. We wanted to stop re-using these materials but we did not want to trash them. We now use a website called www.freecycle.org which helps us pass along these materials to others and keep them out of landfills. Please take some time to check out this website and see if you can participate.
Cardboard Recycling Dumpster – Instead of trashing our cardboard we use a cardboard recycling dumpster. Even though it requires us to have a separate dumpster from our trash we feel it is well worth it to know it will not go to a land fill.
Paper – We use recycled paper for invoices and internal documents. So every receipt you get is on recycled paper. Scrap paper is reused as note pads, etc. so it doesn’t go to waste. Instead of making paper copies we back up our information online to reduce the amount of paper we use.
Water Bottles and Cans – We insist that our employees recycle all their cans and bottles. Too often trashing them is the easiest way out.
Bags – We often receive many products in large bags, which we recycle throughout the warehouse. We primarily use them as trash bags so they don’t go to waste.
