Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
Not only does it provide a beautiful finish to the sidewall of all tires, whether it be a matte finish or a high gloss finish, this product also provides 100% protection from UV and ozone concerns. In the 3 years I've used the product it has NEVER cracked or blistered off. Unlike most off the "off the shelf" tire dressings, TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat is water based and is dry to the touch in just a minute or two after application. It has no oily or gooey residue, will not sling off and will not wash off.
What differentiates Tuf Shine from your standard tire dressing is the fact that it's a rubber clearcoat being applied to the tire, and not a "dressing". And after a few minutes drying time, the tire is completely dry to the touch...no black residue will come off onto your hands (or clothes). It's a completely different type product. The finished product is a nice, dark look without being overly glossy, and without any worries of residue slinging onto your freshly detailed car! You should continue to see a nice finish that lasts for months...not days or weeks.

Everything was done according to instructions and it all payed off- great and easy to apply and looks amazing!!!
It is literally a top tire coating ...cleaning well is a must and applying you need to be slow and careful. If it drips, clean right away. When it cured it is really hard to clean. It takes a few times, so far it's as stated with 2 months of durability. It is really economic, a little goes a long way. If you touch tires, no black mess. It earns statements in my arsenal, also I am selling it as a tire coat, so it makes money for me too.
I really hate being negative, but I was brought up to tell the truth, and the truth is I'm not that impressed with this product.
Not only did I clean the tires, but the tires were brand new, as in I purchased the tires the day before I cleaned them with tuff shine cleaner. I'm stating this to say there were no previous dressings applied.
Just to say something positive the dressing does look good when you first apply it. It's easy to apply as well. No issue there.
My issues is the extreme hype. I can't explain it unless I got a bad batch.
My tires looked great when I applied the dressing. It looked "ok" by the first wash. After the 3rd wash there was browning that was present, and I ended up applying the dressing I used to use.
I'm always on the look out for new stuff to try, and always chasing that "holy grail" of products. This is not one of them.
So the product itself is not bad. In fact it's no better, or no worse than anything I've previously used, and given the cost of the cleaner and dressing I'd recommend using s0mething else.
And believe me I've been at this a long time. I'm not a pro, but I've tried hundreds of brands, and product categories.
I have no problem having to re clean and reapply products, but this product was marketed as lasting for "months, and months, and months".
Sorry to say it does not.
At the end of the day if it's the gosh darndest, super duper looking tire, dressing on the planet, BUT after the first wash it'll,disappear then so be it. Just tell me.
Sorry to be negative, so,to end on a positive note:
In my opinion the tuffshine tire brush is the best out there. And I've tried just under 2 dozen different brushes (yes I have a problem).
UPDATE:
So,I gave this product a very bad review. Things progress, and I'm now updating my previous bad review.
I still maintain that if you use this product solely as directed you will be disappointed. It does not "outlast" anything out there. It also doesn't require only soap and water.
Having given up on this product I decided to use up the tuff stuff cleaner, and I applied my regular tire dressing. I have to,say my tires have never looked better. And I've been a serious enthusiast since 2004.
So I'd have to say what this product is useful for is a tire sealant as a base for your favorite tire dressing.
As for longevity I don't know yet. I'll keep you posted.

Fantastic stuff. Looks great and last a long time
yes for sure, exactly as described. Nice end result and no sling of course.
Next level product! Super versatile too!! One to two coats produces a beautiful matte finish. 3 or more coats becomes super glossy...all with absolutely NO sling! Highly recommend!!
Another quality product from Detailed Image!! Thank you DI:)

Pricey but really good stuff. Be sure to clean your tires well before applying. You will like it.
Have been using this for four years now the only tire coating I use!
Great tire coating. Lasts months unlike a conventional water based tire dressing which may last weeks. Leaves a nice satin look. Only con is that it is time consuming to clean/prep and the follow up with coating the tires. I also noticed that some tire compounds don't accept the tire coating very well which affects the longevity of the coating.
I've been using Tuf Shine tire clearcoat and Tuf Shine tire cleaner for a few years now and I don't use anything else, what a great product! I've always bought the 16oz Tuf Shine Clearcoat bottle and the gallon size Tuf Shine tire cleaner because of all the cars I have it saves time and money. I use a battery power scrubber to clean my tires and to apply my Tuf Shine clearcoat. I use a small paint tray with a 2 inch white foam roller brush for better application to get into every crack on the tires. Hope this helps with the process of cleaning your tires throughly until the tire cleaner suds turns white then you know you are ready to apply your Tuf Shine clearcoat. I also apply two coats per tire to get the shine I want the shine last a good six months before you have to reapply. Tire cleaning maintenance is pretty simple just use mild car soap and you are good to go between washings.
Great product! 3 weeks and it still looks great. Took a lot of scrubbing my tires, which bloom like tulips in Holland. Works so good I ordered the trim shine. Looking forward to getting time to apply that. If its anything like the tire stuff, it's a winner.
Great product, shine lasts a while. Noticed different tires react differently as far as shine. TIP! Make sure you scrub your tires EXTREMELY well. I thought I had mine clean enough and I didn't and the coating browned and flaked off. Redid it, now they look amazing. And the non-oily finish is great as well
I LOVE this stuff! Living in the Pacific NW we get lots of rain... Especially this year. With coated wheels (Carpro DLUX) the water streams off them when driving and causes channels in all tire dressings I have used thus far (PERL and AMMO Mud). With the TUF Shine Clearcoat this issue is gone! Tires virtually stay clean with a nice matte finish. It literally only takes a blast from my pressure washer to clean them off and maybe just a little agitation with a brush/soap. As may have recommended get your tires REALLY clean before applying as it will bond better.
Awesome product. After thoroughly cleaning my tires with the Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner, you need to do this a few times to remove to provide a clean surface, a couple of coats of the Tire Clearcoat goes a long way. It dries to the touch and looks great. More coats results in an enhanced shine. Would buy this again.
It really lasts, I put it on back in January and after all the washes and the nasty road salt etc here in CT they still shine after I wash.
Fantastic tire coating! I coated the tires on my wife's daily driver 3 years ago. Even after numerous tunnel car washes the tires still look freshly detailed. I love this product! One small bottle will easily coat 4 sets of tires even when applying multiple coats. One thing i have discovered is that it seems to work better with some brands of tires than others. Bridgestone snow tires dont seem to shine up as well as others. Great product just the same. I highly recommend it!
I put on a set of new tires as per instruction, it don't seem to be holding up as well as I had expected, May just need another coat.
My second bottle and with out a doubt the best tire coating I have used. After each wash or detailed sprayed I put another coat on. After each application my tires get a more glossy shine.
I thought this was just another "long lasting coating" ! This stuff works. It has out lasted all of the MANY previous products I have used!!!! Bought my second bottle!!!
Plain and simple....as Colin Y posted previously....I have NO desire to use any other tire coat!!
I will say, please take the time to clean the tires properly and thoroughly! I have spent upwards of a half an hour per tire on some vehicles to get them completely clean. Make sure the foam is completely white on the tire. If you're not quite sure, do one more cleaning...It's not going to hurt anything. The tires must be clean for the product to adhere properly.
Two coats gives you a soft sheen and three gives you a bit more. For those looking for a more "wet" look, I'm not sure if that's possible with this product/more applications as I have never applied more than two to three coats.
I have had success with product lasting many weeks, and it still has some gloss left to it even at that point. Just wash the tires when you do the car and reapply occasionally to get that shine back!
This is a SUPERB product that isn't silicone/petroleum based. It doesn't sling over your car or turn brown. It dries clear like nail polish, protects your tires, and lasts!
HIGHLY recommended!

Upon a DI detailer blog and video demonstration -- ordered my initial smaller size of the product. Used it from Fall of 2014 to Fall 2015 and have ordered the largest size. Very Pleased with the product and its results. Have no desire to use any other tire coat. Very Happy with DI's service and the products they review and promote.
I bought this quite awhile back when it was on sale. I just got around to trying it a couple of months ago. I got new tires for my vehicle and thought this would be a good time to try it before I used any other tire products and made the cleaning prep harder. The first cleaning, the foam was a little brown, but the second time it stayed white which surprised me. I thought it would take several applications to get them clean. After letting the tires dry, I applied TS Clearcoat. I put about 2-3 coats on to get a smi-gloss sheen to the tires. After a week when I first washed the tires, I was pleasantly surprised how easily they cleaned up and still looked like they had when I first applied the product. Another thing I liked was that the tire brush didn't get black from the product on the tire and it didn't kill the suds in my wash bucket. The brush kind of slid along with hardly any resistance, almost like the tires had been varnished or waxed, although the water didn't bead up on the ties. I was anxious to see how it held up driving in the rain. Other products I have tried sometimes last a week or two, but if you drive in the rain, you usually need to apply more after cleaning the tires. After driving in the rain the first time, after washing the tires, they still looked like I had just applied it. After almost two months, the tires had lost a little bit of the sheen, but still looked pretty good, but I wanted to get the sheen back. I used the cleaner, thinking I would need to clean the tires and remove all the product to apply more. The foam stayed white, and it didn't seem to remove the product from the tire. I was unsure if a second application would stick, or hold up over top of the previous coating. I went ahead and tried it anyway, and they turned out just like the first time. I have been driving for about a month and they still look like when I first applied it. The surface of the tire stays almost slick like it is varnished, yet somehow it stays flexible and doesn't crack or yellow or anything. It is almost like magic! This is the first product I have felt strongly enough about to write a review about. Most of the time I end up thinking that things I try after reading good reviews aren't as good, or at least not much better than other brands I am using. I was pleasantly surprised by Tuff Shine Tire Clearcoat.
You really have to clean the tires as they instruct. Applies fairly easily. I have to wait and see how it holds up. Use tuff shine tire cleaner!!!!

I don't know what all the hoopla is about, honestly. I followed the instructions to the letter, scrubbed my tires squeaky clean (it took ten times each) and applied 3 coats. I invested on this based on the promise that I'd have my tires shiny for months. It's lasted only 4-5 weeks. I only cleaned the tires during my bi-weekly car wash with a soft brush and car shampoo, per the instructions. Not buying this again.
After thoroughly cleaning my tires, and using the Tuf Shine Clear Coat, I was amazed. And - will not ever use anything else. I cleaned the tires with the Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner per instructions (keep spraying and scrubbing until the suds are white >and no brown
This is an amazing product that I have been using for 2 years with my Pirelli tires on my Toyota Corolla with 17" chrome wheels. I have on occasion accidentally gotten the clear coat on my chrome wheels and was unable to remove it until yesterday. I experimented with different solvents and found that using a rag with Methyl Ethel Ketone would remove the buildup without too much effort. It can be purchased from your local Home Depot or Lowes. I then cleaned those areas with Goo Gone cleaner using paper towels. Then I cleaned them with dry paper towels to remove all residue. This was done without damaging the finish of the chrome wheels and I recommend this cleaning method to anyone in a similar position.

Buy this and be amazed!!! Clean the tires thoroughly with the cleaner until the suds are white...Then clean them again. Also, try not to get any of the tire clear coat on alloy wheels or wheels with machined faces, it leaves behind a film/coating that is difficult to remove...This isn't a 15 minute process, but well worth the time you put in...Take your time applying product...For severely dirty tires, you may want to consider going ahead and buying another bottle of the tire cleaner.
An absolute must have product. It's been on my tires for a few weeks now with multiple rainstorms looks 95% as good as when I first applied it. The car need a wash bad but the tires look great. Just follow the easy directions and it delivers as promised. Worth every penny. So far I haven't felt anything negative about the tire shine
Tuf Shine is an excellent alternative to cheap sprays and tire gels. Easy to apply, doesn't turn brown and lasts a good while. It is now the only tire shine product that I use.
This stuff is expensive, but totally works. Make sure the tires are completely clean before you use it. It is the only proudct I have seen in years that doesn't "sling" all over the side of my truck. Absolutely worth trying if you hate tire dressing sling, and want something that will shine for a long time.
Long lasting and just the right touch of black, not too shiny. All my high-end detailing get this treatment.

I have a lifted jeep and I knew I was going to go off roading today. So before going I decided to quickly clean the one tire and apply the clear coat. I cleaned it with the tuff shine cleaner which is amazing as well. After applying the clear coat, I went off roaring for a bit. The tires were very muddy. I then took some water rinse both a protected and non-protected tire off and gave both a real quick wipe down with just my hand while rinsing it. Needless to say the protected tire was back to clean and well the other tires needed the same treatment now. Recommended for anyone, especially if you go off roading and hate having dirty tires.
This is the best product I have ever used on my tires. I'm meticulous with my cars and as such, I wanted something that was going to last a long time, as opposed to getting washed off after the first rain. I never cared for all the super glossy finishes or gel products. This was exceptionally easy to apply, and after several months of rough use, it looks 95% as good as the day I put it on.
There is absolutely one thing you MUST do, which the instructions dictate: the tires must be completely cleaned of any grime, old dressings, dirt or anything else. The cleaner does an excellent job, but you can't kid yourself and do a quick job on this. As an example, I had 2 brand new tires mounted on my summer wheels that had not been put on my car yet. Knowing full well that new tires would likely have some releasing agents on them to help remove them from their molds, I did what I thought was a great job on cleaning the tires, especially since they weren't mounted on my car and having them horizontally flat on the ground made it even easier to clean. After they looked great, clean and dry, I applied the Tuf Shine coating twice. Looked perfect. I mounted the tires and drove around for a few days and upon inspecting them, I noticed some brown spots as well as some areas where the coating was flaking. This was on only about 5% of the tire, but still, it didn't look that great. The problem areas were around the tiny lettering disclaimers on the tires, as well as on the edges of some of the serrated sidewall sections of the tire. Guess what I thought were clean tires, apparently weren't. Now, mind you, I detail cars as a side business, so I am a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning.
With that said, my recommendation is as follows: Clean the tires with the Tuf Shine cleaner until the foam is white as per the instructions. Rinse. When they look good, clean them again. Feel free to use the included brush, but what I also used was a small fingernail cleaning brush to get into every possible bump/crevice/etc. Brush them in one direction, then brush 90 degrees, then again in the other direction, then 90 degrees from that, then brush them diagonally both ways. Then rinse again. When they look really clean, repeat the process yet again. And when you think they look clean, clean them one more time !!
I can't stress enough about how the tires need to be absolutely positively cleaned completely. I spent about 1 hour of cleaning per tire. Yes, it's a long time, but your reward is new looking tires with a shine that will last for months and months and months. My neighbors and friends think I clean the tires/wheels every few days, when in fact, all I have to do now is just wipe them with the same car wash soap I use when I wash my car. Now takes me all of 10 seconds per tire to clean them up.
Well worth the money to buy Tuf-Shine, and definitely highly recommended !!

Best tire shine product I have used. I am on my second bottle of the clearcoat and I love the ease of use and the long lasting finish. Just don't let any dry on your wheels or fenders, it's a pain to get off. As mentioned it's a bit pricey but IMO it's worth every penny.

Purchased this awhile back for my wifes car. With her summer rims and tires the tires have that lo profile serrated sidewall that seems to be so common. Be it the car is white in color if you use any type of dressing or protectant the result would be dark slings all over the paint no matter what I tried. Giving this a shot I scubbed the tires down with my usual tire brush and purple power diluted 3;1. Tires looked pretty clean at this point but following the instructions I used the tire cleaner and brush included in the kit. I had to scub each tire 4 times! I don't think this was a problem with the cleaner or brush but rather all the little nooks and crannies in the tire sidewall hiding all the grime and old products. The cleaner kept pulling more "brown" out of the tires. I read the product review prior to purchase so I knew I had to scrub until they foamed white. Once thoroughly cleaned and dried I applied the clear. First coat looked pretty good. I had to get a feel for the sponge to keep from getting on the polished wheel lips. I kept a terry cloth nearby to get the errant marks. I added a second coat and was pleased with the result. Drying time between coats seemed to be about 10 minutes in 90* heat with alot of humidity. I added a third coat just to see what happened, but there was no change in luster. So 2 coats is definitely the ticket. As far as durabilty. Well I had to install the rims and tires after the cleaning. Even with all the handling during installation there was no difference in the finish. So I am thinking the shine will last for a while. And as it says on the box, I didnt have any greasy black mess on my hands. The tires stayed clean. Good stuff so far.
I bought this product when it was on special July 4! Love a good deal! I cleaned my tires with the Tuf Shine tire cleaner. I thought they were quite clean but the cleaner removed a lot of dirt. I applied two coats of Tuf Shine and got a slightly glossy finish on the tires. The tires look clean and black! Tuf Shine soaks right in and leaves no residue. They have a new tire look rather than looking like something is caked on them. Very happy with the product. You only have to use a little so if you are hesitant of the price, the bottle will go a long way. Now for the long term test of how long the shine will last.
I purchased this product as I was tired of dealing with gel based dressings that slung off or worse yet, stained clothing if you brushed against a dressed tire. My first application consisted of 3 coats, which yielded a great shine, while being completely dry to the touch. The foam applicator was very easy to use, allowing you to use the minimum amount of product to cover the tire. The biggest surprise with TUF SHINE TIRE CLEARCOAT is how many tires you will be able to do with one bottle. Very little goes a long way. I haven't redressed the tires since my initial application as the has been no reason to. A great product and a better value than you might think.
Great matte finish! Doesn't leave a greasy residue, and has a nice rich look!
Great product if you are looking for a "velvety black" look on your tires.Seems to last a lot longer than traditional "dressings" and NO SLING!
Great product. The most expensive tire product that I ever used before, but worth it! Leaves tires with a nice black long lasting finish. Would purchase again.
This is expensive but last much longer that other tire treatments. Worth trying if you are frustrated with tire dressings that require new applications after each wash.
