Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
I am mainly happy with the fact that it can remove a lot of buildup on wheels without any agitation, meaning one can simply spray it on all the wheels, leave it for a few minutes and rinse it while rinsing parts of the car during a wash, while still getting great results. A quick wipedown with a microfiber towel after will ensure a completely clean wheel.

This product is the best wheel cleaner I have used. My wife's GTI wheels had heavy brake dust buildup on them. I sprayed the Wheel Cleaner Plus on, waited several minutes, hosed it off and I couldn't believe how clean the wheels were. I followed up with a quick microfiber cloth wipe and I was done, with no damage to the wheels.

Excellent for very dirty wheels, best I've used so far. Did not damage rims.
I have a set of wheels that has had brake dust in the corners near the spokes for years and I've never been able to remove it using Full Effect. The Wheel Cleaner Plus followed by a sponge wipe removed it the first time I used it!
Best wheel cleaner I have used. Absolutely destroyed the brake dust on a X5
The easiest wheel cleaner I've ever used. Made the mistake of not using a pH neutral cleaner on my truck rims only to have them oxidize. Never worry about that with Sonax and I love the color change so I now when the cleaning is done! It could smell better but as long as it does the job without messing up my rims, it will be my go-to wheel cleaner.
This product is another great one from Sonax. This is my go to wheel cleaner. Can spray on and rinse off a large amount of contamination if not all with this product and letting it sit for a moment. Very easy to use and not the worse smell in the world like chemicals with iron removal properties. Must have for the pro pricy stuff for a DIY guy but well worth it
One of the best wheel cleaners money can, it's effortless to use, wish they could come up with a bigger spray bottle for a reasonable price.

I wouldn't buy Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus over Sonax Wheel Cleaner Full effect again. I tried them both, spraying one-half of each wheel and, after waiting 5 minutes, power washing the wheels. I looked very closely but couldn't tell the difference.
But both of them work very well. After the wash, there were just a few spots that needed to be cleaned up with a towel. In the future, though,I'll be using Full Effect because it's cheaper and it seems to work just as well.
I measured how much product it took to clean four wheels. It took 146 ml, or 29% of one 500 ml bottle, or $6.12. For Full Effect, this would cost $4.60; If I purchase Full Effect in the 5 L container, it would cost $2.92. I think I'll be buying a 5 L container!

I've always used (and recommended) P21S wheel gel. I tried this and it seems to work a little better for stubborn black dust. The only downside is the smell- worse than week old gym socks.
It was recommended that I use this to try to remove faint, yellowish tinted staining on my clear coat wheels. Unfortunately it didn't work even with scrubbing. The reason I wouldn't recommend this product is that for the average dirty wheels, it doesn't work any better than other less expensive products and at $20 for 16 ounces, that's a deal breaker for me.
BEST wheel cleaner!!!
I continue to use this product on all my wheels. It makes quick work of brake dust when used on a regular basis (every 3-4 weeks). I use a wheel brush to agitate the cleaner after a minute or two. Rinse with a hose and DONE......
This is by far the best wheel cleaner I have ever bought and the stickiest. Other then the smell, this stuff works GREAT. It really breaks down all the dirt, grime, brake dust that builds up in & around your wheels. Just spray it on, let it sit for a few mins, agitate the build up with your dedicated wheel brushes, then rinse off. It's that simple.

This is by far the best wheel cleaner on the market. There is no such cleaner that cleans brake dust without agitation. Forget it, it's not gonna happen...if you're dealing with black pitted wheels, this will clean the black caked on BD and leave you with clean pits or pittings. It doesn't smell good, for men only.😀
This product, when used regularly, keeps the wheels looking new. Brake dust is easily removed using a wheel brush and hose. No discoloration due to brake dust.
My concern was to find a product to clean the not just the outside if the wheel but the inside also. I spray the inside of the wheels on my 2014 Porsche, your product turn red after allowed to sit a couple of minutes. I then hosed it off. It cleaned a lot of the brake dust off but I still had to use a brush to finish the job, which is very tedious. I wanted a product that would eliminate the need to brush the wheel interior. Is there something else I can try?
At this point I'm not sure if I would buy it again. I sprayed the wheels of my 2014 Porsche, let it sit for a couple of minutes, the product turned red. I then hosed it off. Yes it removed a lot of brake dust but I still had to manually attempt to clean the remaining residue from my wheels. I was hoping the product would eliminate the need to use a brush to finish the job.
This is great stuff. Used it on a BMW X5 with OE pads and the caked (heavily) on brake dust just melted away. BMW OE pads are notoriously dusty and Sonax wheel cleaner plus ate the dust away. After cleaning and drying followed it up with some Poorboy's wheel sealant. This wheel cleaner cleaned the rotor hats and the calipers. This is now my "go to" wheel cleaner.
Let's just be brutally honest, it smells AWFUL but how well it works makes me put up with the smell. I use it on those dirty German wheel and it just eats away at it and when the brake dust is too caked on I use a DI EZ Detail Brush and were good to go! This product is fantastic now if they could only make a size in between like a 32oz because let's face it your burning through this bottle if your washing/detailing cars often.
Wonderful results and very efficient. We've been using it daily for the last three weeks and prefer it to the Full Effect - it seems to remove more bonded brake dust and foams less when rinsing, allowing for less water consumption.
Very happy with this product. It actually does what it is advertised to do. Sprayed it on my old 2001 Chrysler Sebring that hasn't had it wheels cleaned for probably a good year (it's just an emergency vehicle now) and the front wheels are black with brake dust. With no prepping, I just walked over to the car and sprayed the Sonax, waited 5 minutes, I didn't even scrubbed them, rinsed them off with the garden hose and they came out looking brand new! I've been telling all my car enthusiasts friends about this stuff.
Just when you thought Sonax Full Effect couldn't get any better, the new Wheel Cleaner Plus from Sonax has taken Full Effect to another level. Goes on clear and turns purple, I tried this new version on an Audi RS4 with tons of brake dust. After turning the wheels purple, I used high pressure to rinse the wheels clean without having to scrub! We've been using it in our detail studio since it's introduction to the Sonax line, and it's become our go-to wheel cleaner! I highly recommend it for those who struggle with stubborn brake dust.
