Solution Finish Trim Restorer Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
It was extremely easy to use and provided fantastic results. A little product goes a very long way, so even the smaller 1oz bottle would be enough to cover quite a lot of trim. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to protect your trim, consider giving Solution Finish a try. I was very pleased with the results that I got!
Solution Finish is a product you can rely on to give amazing results. I always make sure I have a bottle in the shop to offer my customers a trim restoration package. As Detailers, it's important to discipline and offer a multitude of services to your client's. Don't just educate customers on polishing paint, Educate them in every aspect.

This stuff is fantastic. Very easy to use.
I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger that the side window trim was starting to get spots on it. Nothing I tried would repair the spots, trim replacement is cost prohibitive. I tried this and the pigment filled in the spots to where they are barely visible. Instead of seeing them from 20 ft away, you have to look carefully at arms length. I hope it lasts for a while, but the small bottle will do many treatments if needed. Highly recommended if your Hellcat, R/T, or Demon has this issue .
I have purchased this product for several years, there is none better!!! It is the best product to revitalize faded trim, hands down!
Absolutely love this stuff. Easy to use. Excellent results after proper cleaning and prep. I top with a durable sealant, after a minimum 4 hour cure time, and, when doing so, have seen the darkening and protection last for 12-18 months (approximately 6 months without). A little goes a very long way. Wear gloves and use an applicator and towels that you do not plan to reuse as it will permanently stain fabrics.
The product is very good, although I was wrong to use it, I ordered the gray one, but in reality I was looking for the black one, its durability and its seat on plastics without silicone residue really turned me on.
Not sure why others have had such poor results. I've used it on several of our MINI Coopers and have never had one single problem as mentioned. I can't believe I was just that lucky. And this is from several different bottles. This product has worked well for me for a good while now. I'm a believer.
This is an excellent product that keeps your trim looking new for months rather than days like most products. My go-to for trim solutions!
Great product. The only thing I've found that works to my satisfaction on my FJ Cruiser.
I've used Solution Finish a number of years, and for faded bumpers and trim, in my experience it is superior to typical dressings. A little goes a long way in my experience. On the cars that I have applied this, it has lasted quite a while. When looking for something permanent, I have used bumper spray paint but of course that's significantly more work (taping, masking, wearing a respirator) than applying a dressing or Solution Finish.
Absolutely phenomenal product. If you follow the INSTRUCTIONS it works perfectly as described. well worth the purchase.
My go to for trim restoration! It works wonders and won't stick to paint that has wax or ceramic protection making it easy to remove any that gets on the paint by accident. It doesn't last forever as some others have said, but I use it maybe 3-4 times a year on my personal vehicles and never have issues with fading
No..NO....NOOOO.
Detailing business owner and detailing professional for 11 years. I have tried so many trim kits and trim re-storers in my detailing profession. I decided to give this a try after reading mainly positive reviews. This product couldn't be more of a disappointment for me.
I spent almost 3 hours installing this liquid on a customers Honda 04 CR-V.
What I did...
-Initial wash and Tar-X by Car-pro and Dissolve to remove stubborn Tar and road grime.
-then followed up with Iron-X and a final Wash was done with Meguiars hyper wash.
-followed with IPA wipe down
-After blowing out all crevices with my air tool I began masking off all the paint because I was afraid to get the SolutionFinish on the paint.
After masking of all paint near and around black trim I began applying the product.
Initially I used the foam brush included in the kit but was disappointed that it was taking forever. So I switched to a generic Detailed Image Yellow Foam applicator pad and used my hand but used the paintbrush to touch up the small area my hand could not get to.
After finished used a hair dryer to dry the product to the trim.
The customer came by during the day and was blown away with the results. As was I !!
Then two days later he called saying The bumpers were streaking. I asked him to wipe them down with a clean microfiber as it rained the night before and most likely the rain left so rain spots on the trim. I told him that this was common with any restorer. He said he wiped it down and the rag he was using was turning black. I told him it was a new product I was trying and I would be glad to look at it.
When he returned to the shop I was surprised how bad it looked. It rained the night before and just the rain made the product streak and on some parts of the car the product was completely gone.
This product is a temporary show car product. Not meant for daily drivers. It's great at turning things black but as soon as water hits it it disappears.
I ended up having to re-do the car.

This product it's great. Goes on and comes off easy. Brings a factory look back to your aging trim. Only area I had issues with it is where a repaint happened. The dye got on the paint and didn't want to come off. Expect to sacrifice a applicator and towels per vehicle but love the outcome.

This product claims to be silicone-free, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. As per the recommendations of other colleagues and installers, prep is crucial for optimal adhesion. So, after heeding the advice of others, I followed suit by treating the area with a full-fledged wash and multiple applications of IPA. Unfortunately, even after letting it cure for 24 hours, I tested the treated area by grazing my fingers across the surface only to find residue left on my fingers.
Simply Awesome !!
I must say I was very skeptical. I had a 2009 Chevy Avalanche that the back was gray in color. After I finished it back to black. Solution Finish is very easy to apply if you follow the directions on the bottle. I will definitely use again and highly recommend. Thank you
Pros ... easy to apply and the finish is like new
Cons ... the toxic nature of the chemical. Make sure you use gloves and follow the directions

Great product, really brings dull panels back to life, and leaves a great finish! Little more work than the other spray and wipe products but definitely worth it. My only complaint is that it did not last as long as I would have liked and have to re-apply regularly.

After following the directions to the "T" and wiping it down till it was dry it looked great but still ran down the side of car after a rain. Very disappointing!
Yes, sort of, 2018 Ford Edge, made the rear bumper look great better than any other product BUT when loading or unloading the rear space would rub off on pants where it made contact, it seemed like it never dried!
The product did blacken the faded plastic around my truck bed. The problem was when it rained a couple of days later it bled down the paint. So, I grabbed a quick detailer & a microfiber towel & wiped it off. Now I need to treat it.
Great product...goes a long way and is easy to use. But it folks!
Amazing product. Will literally turn old, weathered black plastic back to looking new again and it looks like lasts quite a long time and is durable!
Didn't work out . Seemed paint and ink like and the plastic didn't seem to absorb it . It just sat on the surface .
This stuff is amazing and simple to use. Wipe it on wipe odd the excess. It covers great and seems to really bond to the plastic. Very little is needed per car.
This works great! I bought the small bottle to see if it's any good..And now I wish I bought the big bottle..this is amazing put one coat on and what a difference. By my windshield was very bad and now looks new.. Going to give it another coat because it gets alot of Sun here in the South. so glad it works.. Thank you
Did not on work on 2003 Honda CR-V bumpers were light grey kinda almost silver product did not adhere to bumpers even after complete cleaning with soap and water and final wipe down with alcohol.
Easy to apply, makes your trim black again.
This is my second order. Seem to last longer than any other product of its type. Follow the instructions and wear the gloves that are provided.
This product brings old and faded black trim back to life. A little goes a long way. Make sure to wear some gloves unless you want your hands to be stained black. I would also recommend using a microfiber towel that you are okay with throwing away.
Worth it! Trim restore perfectly. Pros - works with ease. Cons - none
I used this on the headliner trim molding and the b-pillar trim molding in a 1986 chevy camaro. The plastic was only moderately faded (i.e., still looked black, not gray or nearly white). I wiped each piece with 91% rubbing alcohol to make sure it was clean. Then used the Solution Finish on each piece. It really is fool-proof as they describe. I wiped it on with a microfiber towel. A little does cover quite a bit more than I was expecting. Buffed it off with another mf towel after a 2-minute wait. Since the headliner trim molding was more faded than the b-pillar it was more noticeable how well it restored the finish. Very impressed so far. Interested to see how long it lasts. If it doesn't start to fade until at least 8 months or more as described, it's worth it. Also, it doesn't have a strong or offensive odor and it dries quickly. The only con (which is extremely minor) would be that it dries quickly on the towel I used. But not too noticeable after immediately washing/scrubbing it with dishwashing liquid (Dawn brand), then later with the laundry.
The best I have ever used. Very simple to put on and make it look good. Highly recommend.

This stuff is a miracle in a bottle! I used on a couple of very sun abused vehicles and the trim came out looking like new and it has lasted. I highly recommend it!
This is the best trim product by far. Will buy again and recommend.
Absolutely amazing product. Out of all the products I've tried this is the cream of the crop. Lasts months not weeks.
Holy shit is this stuff good. Not many products blow me away but this one delivers...good stuff ...if it lasts.

Used this on my brothers 97 BMW. This is really good stuff. Better than any thing else I've tried. Can't use it on my 535i sport because there is no rubber trim. Yes the 1 oz. goes a long long way. I'm getting the big bottle for the few vehicles I do for a little extra cash. Well worth it. Bringing faded plastic and rubber back is sure to produce some smiles.
It's been about a week since I applied this to my 2004 Subaru Forester. We have had 3 heavy thunderstorms and this product still looks good! No streaking or running. I have used plenty of other products ie. Back to Black and Black Again to name just two, and while they actually produce a deeper black during the application, they both fade quickly and streak when rained upon. So far, this is by far the best trim enhancer I have ever used, and the most expensive, but truly, a little goes a long way! I'll bet I could re-apply this product 10 - 15 times before using up the small bottle. Follow the instructions and use IPA to clean the trim before applying. I tried it both ways and it does make a difference. They also suggest buffing it with a paper towel after applying. I tried that too, and found no real difference, so I saved myself the time and skipped this optional step. Don't let the price scare you away. And the best price I found anywhere was from Detailed Image.
Awesome product and easy to use!!
I had to park my car in a valet parking garage of course when I got home I noticed the back bumper had a wall rash and it freaked me out so I used a heat gun to level the trim then I used the trim restorer and I'm amazed that it looks great like it never happened .
Works good. Make sure trim is fully dried then apply and let sit for a while, then come back and wipe with clean cloth.
Could not be happier! worked perfect and yes that bottle will go a LONG ways! Thank you!
I was a little disappointed with this product. I'm using it on weathered trim and it leaves a lot of streaks. You need to make sure to wipe it off so it wont look gooie. I don't think it works as advertised. The overall look is just OK for me. They made it sound as if the plastic absorbed the stain and it wasn't really a stain, etc. etc. The product does go a long way, but I'll finish it and find something else.
The product works but there is a reason it's not sold to the mass/general public. You have to follow the directions. Apply it evenly then remove access with micro fiber cloth. Then repeat the application til desired look is achieved. Do not soak the area and allow it to sit or run because it will darken unevenly.
First time customer. The ordering process was fast and easy. I applied the product to my 2008 Ram bumper and other exterior trim. Works amazing well. I am hooked!!
Worked very well on my bumpers, they are black again and look great. Thank you. Would purchase again and highly recommend.
This solution streaked and became unattractive after overnight dew. Visible streaks ..... Very unattractive.
Use it very regularly. Much better than OTC products. Have not compared it to a dedicated ceramic coating like DLUX yet though.
How I apply it, and find that it works best is to clean the trim first with APC and then IPA/Eraser then take the bottle, and dip it against a foam applicator brush just to get a little bit on it, and then I rub the brush over the trim. I give it a few seconds to soak in, then I come back with a MF towel that I am okay with soiling and mop up and excess. I find that over loading the applicator actually works worse so less is more in this aspect.

Works good on some plastic trim .. doesn't last to long .... But better then the rest
Great product!
Great product. works great on trim running boards. Hard plastic that could fade brings it back to life . The only part of the car where it hasn't worked for me is the rubber parts, like the rubber seal that goes around the windows. It just does not hold up on this area. But other than that, it's great. Oh by the way a little goes a long way, so start with the small bottle and then move up to the bigger one.
Used it on my 2007 Tundra rear bumper, door handles, and mud flaps. Restored all surfaces to like new condition. The one caveat is to follow directions and read other reviews. I initially used a little too much and did not wipe all the excess off which left some areas a little tacky. After making this mistake the other surfaces came out perfect. I have washed the vehicle since applying it and still looks very good. I can easily repeat the treatment with the one ounce bottle that I initially purchased. If this product lasts 6-9 months I will be very satisfied.
I used it today 9/15/15, on my 08 Chevy Avalanche I did half the truck what a difference, best product I've ever used very highly recommended.
This is quite simply THE near permanent solution! After three months I reapplied to a spot and looks the same compared to my before and after photo I took with a separation between treated and untreated. Forget the peanut butter and the other OTC oil based crud on the market. Drop the coin and just do it. You'll be impressed. And this little bottle goes a loooooong way. Don't let that sway you.
Definitely wear gloves, use a small cotton cloth and apply just a small amount. The results are amazing. My 2007 Ford Ranger, the door jams, mirrors and bumpers looks pretty close as when it came from the factory.
2006 Dodge RAM has trim that looks new again. Doesn't seem like it is going to last more than a month or three, but easy enough to apply and a little will go a long way if you apply nickel sized spot on your cloth or pad and work it in. Cleans off painted panels easily enough when wet. I also applied to e-coated wiper arms... Made them look good again, too. Definitely worth the money. A bit messy - a lot like copier toner in a liquid base (probably essentially what it really is!). Does not look shiney or overdone at all. Very "factory" looking. If you want to clean one up to sell or are one who keeps clean and waxed vehicles... This is what you need. Will buy again.
Have used this product on two vehicles. A 2015 Kia Soul and a 2004 Chevy Avalanche( with the side molding). I didn't use a micro foam pad, but a regular wax application pad. I work it in the trim and it does very well. The truck looks like it came off the showroom floor. I have enough left in the bottle to probably do both vehicles a couple of times. I work it into the trim and buff out the excess. Doing it this way, it doesn't run( I don't soak the pad, about a size of a nickel). Hasn't rain here yet, waiting to see if it stays on and keeps it shine. This product is a lot better than some I've tried in the past, even darkens where the wax has built up. So far, this product does what it says it will do. If it last in rainstorms or car washes, I will definitely this product again!
Comes off with the first wash. no better than Armor All. Messy. A little doesn't go a long way. Expensive.
applied the product but after a few days it was cloudy again.
Awesome product. The best I have ever used.
It worked very well on one type of plastic interior with a rougher finish, but did not work at all on another type of plastic interior with a smoother finish. 50% success.
Used on dealer installed stripes on 09 Mini Cooper that had a cloudy look to them, product did make the stripes a dark black but the cloudiness is still there
The product did cover two cars and I still have some left. But the next day, there were streaks. As the days turned into a week more streaks. I almost bought this item as stocking stuffers, but am glad I waited to see the end results.

Product works as stated. I did an '01 Ford F250 Extended cab and it brought the trim and mirrors back to original looking condition.
Do not know how long the product will last as I only did it about 3 weeks ago. So far so good after multiple heavy rain storms.
I found that using the product very sparingly and rubbing it in well worked best and did not require any final buffing and had no runs.

good product. does what it claims but make sure you buff excess off as it will run down and stain paint.
This is a good alternative when Aerospace 303 or similar dressings are not working. It has solvents and black dye, so it gets the job done by brute force. For the price that Detailed Image sells this product, it's a good deal.
I tried this on my 72 cuda door panel that was chalky looking ..what an amazing product. I highly recommend this to anyone restoring a classic muscle car.
