Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
This will be my go to compound from now on as it works fast, is smooth to work, and dusts next to none! The car won't need a washing after the compounding unlike some other compounds on the market, so its a time saver as well! For anyone looking for turning their 3 step process into a 2 step process, this is a product you need to try out and fit into your arsenal of products!

Buy again - maybe.
I guess I was expecting more stellar results from compounding (Toyota SUV) with rotary and a wool pad. While Menzerna HC 400 was easy to work with, I can't say it performed any better than Meguiar's 91 or Ardex 2408 variable grit products on heavy oxidation.
I will also be trying it on my boat black gelcoat.

Menzerna compounds are the best, and Heavy Cut 400 is the perfect first step of a multi step correction process. This also works great as a 1 step with a softer pad. With all Menz polished this doesn't dry up or get greasy, does it's intended job and wipes off easily! Thanks DI for quick shipping!
The product eliminated some little scratches on my car. I used a rotary polisher to do the work.
It is a very good product, low dust, very good cut and good finish.
I combines it with a Uro fiber 50/50 and performace very good on Rupes DA , also very good with a yellow Rupes foam pad.
Now it will be part of my arsenal with Jescar, Sona and IGL Compounds.

This compound works very well with both rotary and with the orbital polishers. cuts defects quickly and finishes down nicely.
Used the Menzerna 400 to detail a neglected 2015 Acura RDX. Finished up with the Menzerna 3800 finishing polish! Up close you can see imperfections due to rocks and paint chips but vehicle looks brand new from a distance of 20 feet! Awesome product. Acura now gleams! Also used on a 2018 Porsche Macan S for a paint correction before applying Crystal serum! Vehicle looks awesome. Very easy to use product!
Menzerna products are always fantastic. They are my go to brand. 400 works very well as a 2 step, But ive found it works wonder on lighter colored german vehicles. If you dont have this in your cabient you are missing out!
will not cut some lines in paint
As always another great compound from menzerna i usually use this as my go to one step but also follow behind this with SF4000 or FF3800 or 3500 just depends on the finish im going for. Ive been using this since it was called FG400 this will be a forever polish in my arsenal.
This is the first time I have used HC 400 though I have used FG 400, which I loved. HC is supposed to be the same formula as FG 400 but it's not. HC 400 does not seem to have the same lubricants as FG 400 and work time has been cut by 1/3, It is also very difficult to wipe off. As far as cutting and finishing goes I think HC has better cutting and it finishes off as good as FG 400 with very little dusting. Overall I liked FG 400 better for its easy workability.
In my experience using Menzerna products, I've had nothing but excellent results. 400 is typically my go to cutting product as it finishes really well using a microfiber cutting pad. I've had times when it finished so well I didn't feel I needed further refinements and skipped to sealing the paint. This is definitely in my top five compounds and recommend it all day. The only con I'd say is it's a bit on the oily side but that's it in my opinion.
This is my new replacement for M105. It cuts well and doesn't dust like M105.
I bought this in an attempt to restore the hood on my white over black Fj Cruiser I just bought. It did removed almost all of the scratches and swirl marks. I think a color sanding or re-spray might be in store.
FG 400 is an excellent compound. It works well on both single stage and clear coat surfaces. Many times it can work as a one-step compound. Little product is needed to perform most tasks and wipe-off is easy. Buy it and try it
Am a Croftgate Detailer in the Columbia, SC area and my work has deepened into paint correction. I have found and ordered multiple times this product along with the 3800 polish. This product is top notch and am proud to post that I use these products after detailing each of my customer cars.
Awesome product. I greatly prefer it over M105 now; the amount of dust it produces when in comparison is night and day. Finishes down extremely well, also!
Great product! Removes heavy defects with ease.
Simply put this stuff is the best. With the right pad and a little know how your project will come out great. Top it off with Menzerna 3800. I am sold.
Awesome compound removes my 2000 sand really fast and shines like crazy!! I would definitely buy more!! I used it with a orange light cut pad on a black car and it didn't seem leveling swirls I followed with the super finish 3500 and top it off with the power lock! It looks awesome!!
Simply astonishing! PS: Zero cons!
I use FG400 compound as one step polishing with polishing pads.
Yes it is compound, but thanks to Diminishing Abrasive Technology and long working time, even with polishing pads, you still get great cutting power and swirl free, LSP ready surface.
Little bit pricey but little goes long way and if you think about amount time you save with this, its worth every single penny.

Menzerna 400 is the number one polish when medium to heavy paint correction is needed. If needed you can use this polish and Chemical Guys cutting microfiber pad for a one step polish. It cuts and finishes down with a great shine. Long working time can be expected. Dont wast your money on other polishes. Use Menzerna all the way. You wont regret it.
Absolutely. I pair this with a microfiber cutting pad and get results almost instantly with a DA!! Like the other guy said, if you want gloss fast use fast gloss. this stuff is awesome.
This stuff is the bomb!! I rarely take the time to review products but this stuff is makes fast work of your paint correction project and is sup easy to work with. By far the best product I have used in a long time.
Do yourself a favor and buy this stuff...Detailed Image is great to work with. I ordered the wrong product (my fault) and they made it right and very quickly at that..
Happy Happy!!

By far the best product I have found for the project I have been working on, a classic varnished wood boat. you can use it with a relitively slow rotary buffer so you use all the compound & not sling it all over the place & get a spectacular shine with the other Menzerna products, Truely amazing.
Great cutting ability. Has a good gloss sometimes I've noticed a light haze so as long as you follow with a polish that has No cut you will be set. A little dusty. Nothing compAred to m105 that is dusty . Step up to the bigger size because it always happens that I think I should have enough for a long time and I end up running out
Sometimes I wish my Wifes name was Menzerna because she is just as good to me as this product! I really wish I would have discovered this line of polishes a long time ago. I was blown away with the results I am able to achieve using the correct methods and pads with fg400! I will always praise this product. Amazing results, low dust if you keep your pad clean.
Only downside is like most compounds it does give you that weird feeling on your skin when you are wiping it off. Thats not really something to complain about though.

I recently made a switch to a different compound for preferance, but this was my go to forever. Cuts faster than most compounds and since it is a diminishing abrasive, you don't have to worry about moderate hazing or anything to that effect. Leaves a great finish but follow up with sf4000. A 16oz container lasted me I think 3 or 4 cars. If left on too long taking off can be a little of a pain but it's not a big deal
I've found that menzerna polishes and compounds are oily. I highly recommend going over the car with Carpro Eraser to take off any oil you can see left on that looks like streaking. The oil can interfere with bonding to the paint from a sealant.

Works very good. used with orange pad and it removed deep swirls and scratches in my 16 yr old honda. not much dust.
another great product from Menzerna

Bought this product to replace my m105 and a few other compounds I had laying around and I will never look back! Great cut, minimal/no dusting when paired with megs microfiber cutting disc's. Can't get enough of this product. This allowed me to use my Griots DA and do some major paint correction with great gloss in one step! I have yet to get a finishing compound of menz! However It is in the the works! Don't think twice about buying the fg400 and pairing it with microfiber cutting discs!
Excellent product a MUST HAVE. Easy to use with great results.
Works extremely well with microfiber cutting pads.
I have just purchased this recently, but have used it on a BMW and a Jeep Cherokee. It removed scratches well and left s great shine. I will keep this around for the tougher scratches and blemish removal
Ordered FG400 two weeks ago and all I can say is AMAZING, yet it is Menzerna so should be expected. Tested at work on several Cadillacs and then put to a true test bring back a 1990 toyota pickup that was supposed to be black yet was gray. FG400 and a microfiber cutting disc made fast for of restoring the finish and clearing up faded paint after removing factory pinstripe of 14 years. Small amount goes along ways and with extended working time compared to most others comparable plus less mess. Dust is virtually non existent. Haze on dark cars are minimal so to some it may be a one step but for my standards I polish out with 4500 and eraser afterwards. Phenomenal product! A must buy!
By far best compound I have used to date! At work we use 3M Perfect-It Compound and I'd say FG400 finishes down much better, and especially for using my PC7424XP and Megs DA MF Cutting Pad really cleaned up the paint amazing! Easy to take off as well. I always will recommend following up with a final polish such as Menzerna 3000 or 4000. There are no cons to this product and can only imagine what results will be like once I get the Flex 3401!
Finishes down great. One of the cleanest products I've ever used. While this works great on my vehicles as either a one step on some paints or as part of a multistage process, this is now my go-to for machine polishing wheels in one step.
This is the best polish I have ever used. It is better than power gloss and that it finishes down nicely with very little dust if any dust. Removes minor scratches to severe scratches. It leaves an excellent shine. Sometimes I'll follow with 3000 or 4500 by Menzerna but this can be an all in one step polish.
This is now my 'go to' compound. It has little to no dusting, a great level of cut (pad dependent), finishes down very well, and is simple to wipe away when you are done polishing. This will definitely help you take your 3 step process down to a 2 step process! I've used with both MF cutting pads and foam cutting pads and have experienced great results either way! I have also used it with white polishing pad as a 1 step on lighter colored paint and it is great! Highly recommend! Another great product by Menzerna.

Awesome product. I polish my black Mercedes E550 to remove minor swirls and random scratches using a 2 step process with fantastic results. Using a Flex XC3401, begin with a Lake Country Hydro-tech cyan and FG400. Next, polish with Lake Country Hydro-Tech Tangerine or white pad and SF4000. Apply your favorite sealant/coating. I've tried megs 105 and 205 but couldn't master the techniques. I guess I'm use to Menzerna. Before this, I was using Power gloss + Super Intensive Polish + SF4500 to achieve the same results.
This is the new generation of polishes. Cuts well, no dust and finishes down very fine. This is a must have!
Just used this stuff on a 2012 Black Mercedes s550 with megs microfiber cutting pad on pc and it was like a magic eraser! Leaves a very good finish, cuts very fast and I will use this more often now than megs 105. Power Gloss was way to aggressive but this stuff is a home run! Well worth it and a must have in your arsenal.
