Lake Country Dual Action (DA) Backing Plate Reviews
Customer Reviews
A perfect replacement for the dead backing plate on my Griot's 3" random orbital.
I am buying 5" and 6" versions of this backing plate right now to replace two that recently broke apart in the middle of a detailing job. But here's the thing: I've been using them for the past ten years, so they have more than earned their keep.
This is a must have if you own a PC 7424XP. Having a smaller backing plate allows to more easily and effectively go after most intricate areas during a buffing session. This paired with a 5in backing plate are all you realistically need!
The backing plate is well made
Very good product
Heart and soul of the correction. Plates are not sexy, but has to be perfect, which it was.
Got it to replace the backing pad I had on my Porter Cable 7424 HP fit perfect and it words with my Meguiar 6 inch pads
With the addition of this backing plate I now have a 3", a 5", and a 6" machine hanging on the wall ready to grab at a moments notice. I believe this backing plate with 5.5 pads will enable me to better hone in on paint correction issues. Looking forward to the warmer weather so I can start using this item in the shop.
Bought to use with a PC I bought on here. Works well. Pad adhesion is almost too good. Somewhat flexible, which is good, at least for a novice, when going over body lines.
bought this as a replacement plate for my first DA polisher ever which was from HF. It immediately calmed the DA down so it ran much smoother as it is nicely balanced. This and the low profile pads worked great on my first project... brought my 13 year old white oxidized truck paint back to a beautiful shine for a novice I loved it and I'm pretty sure it contributed highly to my success.
Upgrade for my HF DA Polisher very nice.
Worked great, no problems.
Love it, works great!
Worked as expected. Price was right.
Great backing plates, easy to use and well made. The stock backing plate that came with my DA had a bad wobble to it and would make the machine vibrate.
I actually use this smaller backing plate on a regular size DA so I have more power but it definitely is light years better than the stock backing plates that came with my machine. The build quality seems excellent so I'm hoping it will last me for a while.

I purchased the LC DA 6 inches backing plate along with the 5 inches. I had a good experience with the LC 5" that I bought from Autogeek so I bought another one and wanted to try the 6". The 6" make my DA vibrate violently which is so bad for my hands. I tried it on 3 different DAs (2 Harbor Freight and 1 Porter Cable 7424XP) with the same results. I am not sure how will it translate on the paint. The 5" did not do that and was actually very smooth. I am not sure if the 6" belongs to a bad batch. I bought it on sale here at DI. I wish I could return it for a refund but sending it back from Hawaii and pay the price for the mail does not make sense at all.
Pros: 5" very good but I cannot make a comment on the 6"
Cons: 6" vibrates violently, no problem with the 5"
As far as the 6" is concerned I cannot recommend nor discourage anybody from buying this though.

The 4' backing plate is more like 3.5". 4" pad is a good fit. I use 4 and 6.5" w/ a 6" BP, L.C. ccs pads. Griot's Garage Random Orbital Polisher 6" 3rd Generation. Why spend $400 + when $150 works great. Important to get the correct feel while operating and choosing a good quality compound.

Enjoyed right up until it started falling apart at the 6 year point. Not a heavy user (every couple of months) and was stored in a plastic bin in an attached garage (good conditions). My 6" backing plate and 4" hand mount also fell apart at the same time unfortunately--despite wide differences in how much they were used. Definitely something about the material that only hold up for so long. A bit frustrating that I was very happy with it but have to purchase again just due to time passing.
This backing plate has held up during multiple uses! Will buy again!
Great backing plate, does it's job!
Works nice for tight spaces.
Does everything I want it to do. Backing plate is well made and perfect for my porter cable.
works great
The Lake Country Dual Action (DA) 3" Backing Plate is a must-have to allow getting to all of the smaller areas like the roof supports, detailing around the front light assemblies, door wells, etc. The 6" is is great fr the main parts of the car, but these are definitely necessary. The hook and loop on both size work remarkably great. There is no concern of losing them during use. A little challenging to peal off, but I am getting a handle on it with use. These are definitely the backing plates to use with a Porter Cable 7424XP. Get them with the pads you need and enjoy your detailing instead of working at your detailing.
Yes diffidently works great
Fantastic. Perfect for cars. Terrific for even the smallest places.
It is ideal for small spaces
I have the 5 inch and the 6 inch. Both very well made. The hook and loop is sturdy. It flexes on the small curves for accomadation.
Bought this for my new Torq 10fx for headlights and more direct cutting with 3in orange pad and compounds. Fits on perfect, no issues.
VERY well built backing plates for the Lake County pads. I used the Lake County pads and they could not be more secure....terrific product!! I used the 4" plate for the smaller areas I wanted to get and the 6" plate for the larger portions of the vehicles.
Great price and shipping. Agree with the edges not being beveled, great other that that.
I purchased the 3" backing plate for my Griots DA. I wanted another option when I needed something on difficult panels. Using this backing plate allowed me to do this with a machine that doesn't bog down.
I live the combo.
I live the combo.
Bought another to replace the one that I used consistently for about 7 years. Durable and easy to use.
Good backing plate has a good flex inthe corners have not found anything wrong with it ... Thinking about doing an upgrade to 5 in plate (downgrade I guess)
It does it job, but after 2 years it broke on me.
Works perfect with my Porter Cable polisher.
Great backing plate. It does what it needs to do.
This is my first backing plate for my new to me PC7424xp. It's worked perfectly so far and very well constructed.
Good standard duty backing plate. Accepts LCC pads very well. Used on PC 7424XP and worked great. Have now detailed 4 cars and my shower using this plate. Would definitely buy again.
This is a must for the Porter Cable xp, and the 5 inch with 5-1/2 pads is the perfect size for speed and quality polishing.
Very nice and pliable pad, great for curves. I have yet to wear out a backing plate, but if I do, I will be getting this one again!
We used 5" backing plate with a DA polisher with 5/12 '' pads . The back of the pad is semi flexable so that it can bend just enough to get the job done.
Used on my Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher G110 V2 with no problems.
Lake Country products always work great as expected. Used on my Griot's Orbital Polisher.
Its a backing plate, it does what its supposed to.
Have had this for over two years and it still works like new. The LC pads and products work great!
Works great for the 4in pads. It fit my G110 no problems
It's an absolute must for the Lake Country pads. Makes pad changing a breeze.
Love the quality! pads fit snuggly without worry of coming off.

These backing plates are well built and work fine but my only complaint is that the edges aren't beveled... the sharp edge cuts into pads if the backing on the pads is too small, such as Meg's 7006, 8006 and 9006 pads.
