The Griot's Garage Vented Orbital Backing Plate is the perfect replacement backing plate for your Griot's Garage G9 or other random orbital polishers! This completely redesigned backing plate features firm yet flexible high-density urethane foam with chamfered edges for flexibility and improved contouring over and around body panels. However, where this backing plate really shines is with the overall heat reduction. The plate's center recess cuts down on heat at the center of the backing plate, while the vertical and horizontal cooling ports cut down on heat around the exterior while delivering smoother operation, longer pad life, and better results. The G9 comes standard with a 6" backing plate, making the 5" perfect if you want to use smaller pads. Bought to use on a Griots G9, the new vented design is great, helps dissipate the pad heat. The 5" size works well in smaller areas or curvy panels. I almost think this should be the stock size that Griots ships with the polisher. Well worth the extra cost.
