Gtechniq EXO v5 Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
The Gtechniq EXO v4 has been one of our favorite coatings for years now. It is extremely hydrophobic and easy to apply, making it great as a coating topper for that extra gloss, water beading, and protection we all strive for. It has however been years since this version was released and we knew it was only a matter of time before Gtechniq stepped up the formula yet again. Introducing EXO v5!
Customer Reviews
A noticeable difference in V4, namely only one coat required. I use it on trim and of course over CSL and CSU. Holding up great on my motorcycles.
I highly recommend applying this over the CSL for a very slick and water repellant finish. Its crazy how well it repels water afterwards. Be sure to follow the directions when applying and the required drying time and to not wash the car for a week. If applying over CSL be sure to apply per the directions so not to require polishing the surface between the CSL and EXO application. It also makes the washing process very easy after this has been applied.
Gtechniq EXO v5 is a nice improvement over v4. It works great as a stand-alone coating (2yrs), but also as a topcoat on Crystal Serum Ultra. It is easy to apply if you are new to coatings and offers incredible shine.
Excellent ceramic. Applies and wipes off easier then V4 version. Doesn't smell as strong as well. I like to use with the DI Microfiber rectangular applicator pad. This is a superb 2-year coating. Water beading properties are incredible. This product is a absolute knockout. Thank you for improving upon the already excellent v4 formula, Gtechniq is a winner when it comes to ceramic coatings, and car care products.
Totally pleased with the new EXOv5. Our friends recently acquired a silver, higher mileage, previously owned 2018 Cadillac XTS. It was fairly well kept but had a consistent amount of swirls and the usual suspects of light scratches on the top surfaces, especially the rear deck lid. We performed the usual decon steps and then used 3D One with a Lake Country orange light cutting pad on the majority of the body panels. I used a Uro-Wool pad for a first step on some of the tougher areas followed by Sonax Perfect Finish with a white polishing pad. While this is a review for v5, I can't say enough about how effective 3D One is with a Flex 3401 polisher. The working time is great, there's no dusting and the results made the rear deck lid look like water. CSL was then applied after a wipe down with CarPro Eraser. I've used several different ceramic products now and Gtech coatings are always dependably easy to use, even in warm and humid weather.
For the EXOv5 application, a Gyeon foam block was used in combination with their microfiber suede applicator pad. This makes it very easy to consistently spread the coating and the material doesn't soak up as much of the product. The new formulation is noticeably thicker, and the resulting coating is said to be more dense but it is just as easy to apply. It has the same curing pattern as before where the product will create small sweat beads when it's ready to be wiped off. First I used a medium microfiber towel and just lightly pulled the towel across the beads followed by two Rag Company Edgeless Pearl coating towels. Removal was as effortless as before and the resulting surface was so slippery it was hard to tell the difference between the other surfaces with just CSL on it.
While I can't report on the water beading characteristics yet, Gtech says they've increased the bead angle to 115 degrees. Apparently 54 iterations were used in development and testing with resounding support of much better performance, even with a single layer application. First impressions are that this is a great version update from v4. Effortless to use, even for the novice with impressive results. My friends where in awe, they just kept walking around the car. I gave them a bottle of C2 to go with it. :)

After using V4 multiple times I couldn't wait to give this new version a go. Did a polish followed my CSL then waited 2 hours and hit it waits the V5. It went on and came off with ease. Waited maybe a minute or 2 at most before I leveled and buffed each section. The slickness and gloss was definitely slightly more than the previous version. Loved the V4 and love the V5 even more.
