DI Accessories Sheepskin Wash Mitt without thumb Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
The DI Sheepskin Mitt is a main tool in my detailing arsenal and one I would highly recommend to anyone out there. It works very well both with traditional washing methods as well as rinseless products, such as Optimum No-Rinse. It's one of the few tools that is always used and has no replacement so there's no wondering what to choose for a specific car, as we do with cleaners, polishes, claybar, etc. Definitely a must have for anyone and a big time favorite of mine!

Have had several of these mitts before and am buying a new one now. A "DO" and a "DON'T" for using these.
"Don't" ever put in a dryer unless you can tumble dry WITHOUT HEAT. Any sort of heated drying will quickly ruin the sheepskin.
"DO" after you're finished washing and you've rinsed out your mitt with cool/cold water, run it through the "spin" cycle on your washing machine for a cycle or two. It'll expel a relatively large amount of the water trapped in the sheepskin.
As a matter of fact, if you can set your washing machine to "COLD RINSE", one trip through this cold rinse cycle will be enough to get out the trapped dirt and again get rid of most of the excess moisture.

Have used these mitts for years. Last one lasted me 3 years as long as you clean it with cold water after every use.
I've used this in conjunction with the 2 bucket washing method. Its very soft and worked as described. I had no issues with it. I have only used it once but will see how it performs after more usage. It takes alittle to dry out, just like other MF mitts.
The mitt is good quality and does the job well. It takes days for the leather backing to dry after use, so you can't simply put it away and forget about it, you need to hang it open and in a dry place. Instead, I am looking at long soft and dense fiber synthetic mitts.
I really like the mitt. it is super soft, and it picks up dirt well.
The biggest draw back is it starting to fall apart after several months. I alternate between two mitts washing my car once a week. I used each mitt 10-12 times before they started to fall apart.

I wanted to like this. I probably used it 10 times and it started to fall apart. Will switch back to a chenille microfiber mitt. I think they also hold more water than this item.
Horrible quality. Not quite sure who is making these now, but my original ones lasted me years and never had issues with them until now. I recently bought 2 new ones and both are not only thin, but within the first few washes they began to completely fall apart. These will no longer be used on my clients high end vehicles or my own.
Excellent wash mitt for the price. Easy to use with "No Thumb" and soft when dry or wet. No problems removing dirt from the cars. Be careful when wiping around tires or pipes as the black can rub off onto the mitt.
Holds a lot of wash water and gets the job done. Survives a machine washing without issue.
My favorite wash mitt by far. I use it for my traditional washes when my car is to filthy for ONR and for my ONR washes.
Benefits to me are its very lightweight even when soaked which gives me piece of mind I'm not marring the paint.
Love buying these when they go on sale, have a good stock of 10 or so. ;)

I purchased two mitts and they are both working well and holding up. I have never used a lambs wool mitt before, so this is all new to me. I've put them in wash and they seem to be holding up well. I wanted to try something new since I purchased a 2016 Subaru BRZ. Happy with the results.
Very silky feel like the material is a mink or something. At first I thought it did not hold as much water as some other brand mitts I've used, but it could be the material pattern hides the volume. The material is very elegant and should resist scratches very well. This is a thinner style of wash mitts
Great value and leaves no scratches or swirl marks.
I was impressed with the mitt when I first took it out of the bag. It looks sheared, so the fur surface is very smooth initially. This means that there are no longer and shorter fibers to create pockets for the dirt to get stuck in between. The elastic cuff was just fine for me. It was a little loose - but no biggie - I just upend my arm when I finish rinsing out the mitt, and the water runs out of the mitt. I use the two bucket technique, with a grit guard, and the rinse water gets grey and dirty nearly immediately, while the suds bucket stays white and clean. That shows that the shearling rinses out well and the dirt comes off easily. I bought two of them since they were on sale. The loop to hang it to dry works out great. I just rinse the mitt, run my other hand over it to squeeze out the excess water, and hang it up to dry for the next use. The best mitt I've used, and since it was on sale, it was a great buy. Very very happy with it.
Bought 2 after reading the reviews. Would not recommend these mitts. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic; however, my experience has been: interior 'skin' dries up hard like a chamois, smell like a wet dog, fibers get stuck in car crevices.
Very soft, easy to handle and holds lots of soap.
Overall a nice wash mitt. I like the chenille mitt better as it seems to hold more water and stays lubricated better than the sheepskin. However, the sheepskin is very soft and is good product to keep in the arsenal.
I love this mitt. It is thick ,holds the suds well and releases the dirt in the grit guard with ease. This mitt won't leave any fibers behind. I had the rethickoulas mitt. I like this one better.
This is a nice mitt no doubt. My negative observations are....1) the cuff needs to be more elasticated it is very loose around the wrist. 2) The water absorption claims are exaggerated you will still have water dripping onto your feet after loading it up. Plus since the cuff is so loose the mitt fills with water
One of the best wash media choices I made! Its super soft and makes you not even worry about leaving swirl or any imperfections. I bought it with Optimum No Rinse and it works great! Traps dirt and works perfectly with the 2 bucket wash method. I made the mistake of washing it with my MF towels and then throwing it in the dryer. This causes the fibers to fluff up so im not sure how effective it will be now...so i purchased another one haha. When done with it, make sure you wash it off by hand or soak it and then hang it up to dry. DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DRYER! Overall great product and will be buying again when my two start to deteriorate.
Great wash mitt. I like the "no thumb" version because I can twist it around on my hand to use both sides of it after dipping it in the soap bucket. The only bad thing I noticed is it leaves fibers on my convertibles fabric top, so I just use a brush instead for the rag top.
Very soft, yet seemingly indestructible. I'm one to wear the mitt instead of using it in a towel fashion and the wrist elastic is strong and comfortable. It is very difficult to pull strands off on sharp objects like other, inferior mitts. Buy this one, it's super great.
This is a great mitt. I purchased two incase the first wears out, but it is still going strong. Super soft and very durable what else can you ask for? They are a great value aswell.
This mitt works very well, is pretty durable and is gentle on paint.
This is my favorite wash mitt, and I have bought 4 of them. Detailed Image may not like this, but I actually prefer this to my reTHICKulous wash mitt. I find the regular sheepskin wash mitt to be easier to use with a 5 gallon bucket and grit guards. The reTHICKulous wash mitt is so large that it makes it a little bit tricky to maneuver inside the bucket.
Bought two - there're awesome. Super soft, zero scratches. These have replaced the 3 microfiber mitts I had. This is THE mitt you want to use.
This is a reasonably priced product that is well worth the money. Easy on the paint, holds wash well and cleans up easily.
Up until recently I haven't been exposed to anything better than what is available at Walmart or local auto parts stores, and I must say this mitt is leaps and bounds ahead of what I have previously been using. Holds suds and just glides so nicely on the paint. I also notice it releases dirt, grit, and suds very easily which makes the thorough rinse afterwards very quick and easy.
Great wash mitt. This is my new primary wash medium. It is soft and gentle on the paint and works great to free up the dirt on the paint. Excellent!
As I've gotten more knowledgeable about caring for my car's appearance, I've learned the importance of softness when using products on my paint. So I bought this mitt to replace the microfiber mitt I originally bought, which has now been relegated to cleaning my wheels. The sheepskin mitt is softer than microfiber and holds a lot of water, which should reduce the likelihood of swirls.
Nice thick fluffy mitt that holds the suds well. I'm happy so far.
Just want to point out about the only no on the reviews is because of an inexperienced user not knowing how to prevent swirls probably with one or all of the following combination: Not using a APC to loosen up grit/ dirt to prevent hard scrubbing on painted surfaces, Not using the two bucket method/ with grit guards. Lamb wool is one of the safest materials to use on cars.

I have several wash mitts from DI and on one of my purchases I thought I would try the one without the thumb. It is the same in every other way I can fathom. It washes well, and holds up better than others I have purchased from auto parts stores. You lose the comfort of a thumb and a dollar off the price. I recommend it.
Bought two and love them. They're like stuffed animals out of the bag, but feel like wool as soon as they hit your wash bucket. They seem very gentle, hold a ton of liquid and suds, and are easy to clean. I love them. I definitely recommend them!
Love this Mitts. And, Detailed Image has a great price on them. One great thing about the mitts is that you don't have to wash and dry them. You rinse them clean, wring them, and then you can move to your next car detail. We run a mobile car detailing business in Kansas City so it is nice to not have to carry 15 mitts everyday. The whole KC Detailing crew loves them. Great product and an amazing price. Detailed image is by far our favorite website. The best products, amazing articles and resources, and great customer service.
Pretty good product for the price. I ordered 2 and could definitely tell a difference between the two items, both dry as well as wet. We'll see about the longevity of the mitt, but I'd most likely purchase again as you can't beat the price.
Excellent wash mitt. It felt luxurious against the paint of my BMW M3. Other 'sheepskin' mitts have sometimes yielded minute scratches despite using a two bucket wash method. This time after washing with the DI mitt, the paint was virtually swirl free. Highly recommended
Great product...much better quality than anything you'll find at your local AZ or AAP. Super soft/slimy when you're washing your ride. Rinse it off really well, wring and let it dry. Then turn it inside out and let it dry some more. I'll be getting another one soon I'm sure.
This is a great mitt. I prefer mitts without the thumbs and this one is great at a good price.
A staple. Great mitt. Buy a few when they're on sale, and there is no greater value. Works as advertised... a coupla' these, two buckets, and some good shampoo, and you'll smile throughout the wash. They're durable, but inexpensive enough that relegating a stained one to wheel wells won't hurt the wallet.
The sheepskin mitt is nice for sure. Very soft and does not leave any maring. If your washing a car that has not be well taken care of it will "stick" to the paint which is a bit annoying during the wash process. Other than that the only negative thing I can think of is that it leaves the little hairs around but not a big deal really. All in all great stuff.
Have been using sheepskin mitts for about a decade to wash my cars. I've tried sponges, pads, chenille cotton mitts, and many in between. Genuine sheepskin mitts remain the champion for a gentle, swirl-free wash. Detailed Image does a great job of picking them (yes, you should pick like fruit to find the softest ones) and I'm very pleased with their performance and durability.
Nice wash mitt. Much better quality than what I kind find locally in stores.
Bought this mitt back in September '09. I've used it a number of times, cared for it as directed, and happily have seen no scratches from use. However I do see a LOT of the mitt's fibers floating on the surface of the water in my rinse bucket. I've also seen fibers left on the car's paint during washing.
Nice quality wash mitt, that holds a lot of suds and water, and as far as I can tell traps dirt nicely. My first got a hole in less than a year from use, so I bought three more.
Great mitt! Better than the store bought stuff! Very soft and haven't noticed any extra marring or scratches with this mitt. Just wash the mitt with CG's Microfiber cleaning soap after each car wash so it stays clean and ready for the next car wash!

I purchased this wash mitt just to try a sheepskin mitt. After the inital wash I noticed very tightly packed micro marring, and I had only used the mitt on the hood, with CG Wash and Gloss. Light pressure left marks on a saffire black BMW. I wasn't pleased with this mitt.

I bought this over the one with the thumb b/c it was a little cheaper. After one use I couldn't be happier. It held soap very well and as the other post stated, rinsing is a breeze. The overall wash felt much safer than before. Great product and will buy more as needed for sure!

Totally awesome. Just used it today. Holds lots of suds, rinses easily, and is gentle on paint. Also leaves no fibers behind.

This is my new washing medium. I used m/f covered sponges before but once I tried this mitt I really liked it. It traps dirt well and washes out very easily, leaving no scratches in the paint. A+ from my experience!
