Professional Detailer Reviews

I find the DI Foam Lance to be a very useful tool when my vehicle is particularly dirty or when I need to strip any remaining wax or sealant from the vehicle with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash Shampoo. It is a quick and easy way to apply a nice layer of foam to your vehicle to remove dirt and contaminates before you begin your normal wash process. Hopefully this has inspired you to pickup a foam lance for yourself! You'll enjoy using it, and you're sure to get some attention from the neighbors!

The DI foam lance foams very well with my 2000 psi pressure washer. I use roughly 2 oz of soap and hot water. Seems to be well built also.

Very effective tool! Saves a lot of time and washing! I use with citrus wash and hardly even have to use the microfiber mitt!

This is a simple to use yet effective tool. Helps with the initial pre-soak to break up heavy dirt and grime. Yes these may seem like overkill for the average consumer, but a must have for professionals.

I purchased the Detailed Image MTM Hydo Foam Lance along with Maxi Suds II for the sole purpose of spraying the car with foam using my CleanForce medium-duty electric pressure washer. This is a high-quality product that works as expected when used with the right type of soap. At first, I used the Meguiars NXT car wash (about 3 oz) that was sitting on my shelf with this foam lance. This is a great soap when used in a bucket method, but it hardly created any suds through the foam lance. However, when I used Maxi Suds II (about 2.5 oz) with the same foam lance, it created very good foaming that stayed on the car for a few minutes. The difference in foaming was day and night. I only wish the soap/water container had oz. markings to make the dilution a bit easier. Otherwise, it is a great product.

Once I decided to get into the next level of car care, I lurked in all the detailers forums to gather information once I learned about these 'foam cannons'. And probably like you, I got more confused as I read the reviews on these things. The expensive ones were highly recommended, but I'm not a professional detailer...but I still wanted something 'like' what they used, but at a less expensive price. After what seemed like endless reading, I decided to take the plunge on this one and I couldn't be happier. This foam gun produces foam like covering your car in liquid marshmallows! It's well made and seems very sturdy. So far, I've only used Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam at a ratio of 4oz of concentrate to the 32oz bottle. Like they recommend, fill the bottle 3/4 of the way with fresh water and THEN add the soap and give it a gentle shake to mix it up a little...if you add the soap first, you'll never get enough water in there because of the foaming action while the water is added. The lance comes with a tip that you use the teflon tape on and then it attaches to the quick disconnect tip of your power washer wand.

About the power washer. I'm using a gas powered PW, 3,000 psi at 2.1 gallons a minute as they say the more pressure, the more foam. I looked at electric power washers in the beginning, but after all the reading I went with the gas unit for a few reasons. More pressure, no power cord, more gpm, and I can use it for other projects around the house that require more power. I bought the Simpsons PW from Costco with the Honda motor for $240 after a coupon sale.

You attach the filled bottle to the end of the lance, fire up the power washer, and pull the trigger. I had no issues with the adjustment knob on the top in regards of producing foam...no matter how I turned it, the thing shot out foam at an incredible rate. You can twist the spray nozzle to get the right 'fan spray' that you desire and that was about it...you just spray the foam (after you shoot the car with clean water first) and that's it. A full bottle will cover the entire car 3-4+ times (I have a Ford Edge) which I now realize is too much, I now fill the bottle half way with clean water and use 2-3 oz of foam concentrate when I wash my car and that's PLENTY of foam as it covers the car at least twice over. As for the soap foam I chose to buy....Chemical Guys CWS_110 HoneyDew Snow Foam Car Wash - 1 Gallon...I picked this one from reading all the reviews, it smells great and creates tons of foam. It's so easy that I was shocked...because from all the reading I did, I thought there was more to it. I watched the YouTube videos and all...KISS (keep it simple stupid) applies here.

Just make sure you rinse it out after each use. Turn off the PW once you're done using all the concentrate in the bottle, fill the bottle with clean water, reattach it to the wand, and start the PW back up and pull the trigger to clean all the internal parts...about 2-3 minutes as you're waiting for the foam to drip from the car. If my car isn't that dirty, I don't even put a sponge to it...I just rinse-foam-rinse...the foam will remove dusty dirt and pollen all on it's own as it drips clean before you use the power washer to rinse it off. If it's really dirty, after foam & rinse, I do the 2 bucket wash with a microfiber pole sponge. Simple guys. I've now used it about 20 times and it's so easy and looks so cool as the neighbors watch in amazement! If you want a reasonably priced foam cannon...THIS IS the one to buy. I hope this helps the amateur detailers out there like me.

Works great! I use it with a 2000psi Karcher X-Series pressure washer, 2-3 ounces of soap (fill the rest of the bottle with warm water), and I get nice foam that makes washing safe and easy. Utilizing a foam lance is a great way to pre-soak the vehicle to minimize contaminates that can cause scratches and swirls during washing.... plus, it is just fun to use!

Worth every cent. 2 oz of your favorite shampoo, fill the rest of the bottle with hot water and TONS of foam. It's literally that easy.
