Before companies rated pads by stiffness, it was texture, and the green foam is not short on texture. Previous vendors often labeled it anywhere from a heavy to light cut pad. Even Chemical Guys used to call it a "light cut / heavy polish" pad, where today the just call it a "heavy polish".
In my experience it consistently cuts more than the orange and yellow pads, and is much more comfortable to operate. Once wet with product, the orange and yellow pads become as soft as the green, but also much smoother due to the tighter pores. The green will retain it's textured feel throughout the job.
You don't want to prime the green pad by smearing a bunch of product on it, but start with three or four pea sized drops of whatever product you're using.
My favorite products to use on this pad are Menzerna FG400, Rupes Zephir, and Meguiar's M100.

I am a big fan of the green pads from chemical guys. I own all the colors from yellow to red and these seem to be enough to get most cars done. The newer quantum pads are even better because they keep cooler and let you work an area for a longer duration.
Love these buff pads, great finish and last a long time. Highly recommend.
