CarPro Iron X Iron Remover Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
This is not a product you need to use with every wash, however it is something that you should probably use 2-3 times per year to maintain a nice clean contaminate free finish. I do however find myself reaching for Iron X quite a bit for cleaning wheels as it is very effective and works quickly to remove brake dust and other contaminates.
Customer Reviews
100% does the job After you wash the car, spray it on and you can clay it while its working
Throughly cleaned the coating and restored it to tight beading and sheeting.
Great product that I have been using a long time. Works great to get that nasty rail dust and other junk off my wheels. Another tip, I use liquid fertilizer on my lawn and some of the product has "iron" in them. While I try to be careful with my spray wand, you can't help but get a bit of spray sometimes on my white vinyl fence.
I tried a small area of this product on the fence and worked GREAT to remove it from the fence... Washed off the residue with a soapy sponge and a quick rinse --- bingo -- fence looks like new... When done, I just rinsed the turf at the bottom of the fence real good, and no issues with getting the grass killed either... Great stuff with a good dual purpose.....

AMAZING. I have a 1-year-old Audi Q3 with a CQUARTZ Finest Reserve ceramic coat. After washing, and while still wet I sprayed an entire 500ml bottle on the entire car (every exterior surface including wheels and wheel wells). I saturated the whole car and the bottle had just a tiny bit left at the end. I waited about 6 minutes in the shade and power-washed the car. I couldn't believe how my car, which is normally 'dealership new' with a glass smooth and bright reflective paint from the ceramic coat now redefined my definition of 'dealership new.' I didn't realize I had a small dime-size piece of tree sap on my car until I used this product. After letting it sit I was able to use a soft towel to completely remove the sap in under 30 seconds - what! I'll probably use this 2-3x a year. I followed up with CARPRO Reload 2.0 like I always do after a weekly wash. The exterior is 100% perfect.
Stinky. Cherry scent is less malodorous than the lemon though. Cleaned my filthy, brake dust encrusted black mesh wheels better than anything I've ever used.
Works just like it says ! Best product I have found for use on my 2 white vehicles.
A must have for any car you want to keep absolutely clean… especially a white one.
This is my second time buying CarPro Iron X to get rail dust off of my "cool grey khaki" (light blue) Subaru Crosstrek, but my first time purchasing from Detailed Image. The product was as expected and worked as usual. Definitely an odor, but I expected this. Came here to write a review regarding buying from Detailed Image... Very fast shipping! I was very impressed. I will purchase from here again.
Excellent results with the iron x on cars with notorious brake dust issues - BMW, Benz, Hellcats, CTSVs, or Vettes. Worked over with a quality wheel brush and a woolie to get the drums nice and clean. I follow with good shampoo abd rinse for a surface that is ready for panel wipe and coating. Seems to be gentle enough that in place coatings aren't removed but I like to top off with reload or c2v3 for a nice finish.
Best Iron remover IMO other brands come close but Ironx is the best and removes the most contaminates. It makes coating the car afterwards a lot easier since I'd say only 10% of them are left on the car. I normally use this 1-2 a year to keep the clear coat in tip top shape.
Well, as a first time using this product, I can say that and confirm that it did exactly what it suppose to do. As I spray iron x into the surface of my car, I immediately notice how my car began to bleed as the car paint reacted to this chemical. I was very excited to see how Iron x decontaminated my entire from top to bottom including wheels. The quality of this product is Amazing. It is a very simple to use product. Just spray on a clean wet surface and see how your car paint reacts to this product. Not only I am satisfied with this product, but also with detail Image for the outstanding service and quick shipping. Also the price at this site is amazing. I would definitely buy this product again from this site.
IronX is one of the best products I have ever used! It probably removed 80-90% of the contaminates. I love how it changes color almost instantly and let's you see the areas that have really been affected. I let my father in law use it on his rims that were in bad shape and he purchased a bottle about an hour later.
I would definitely buy this again. I do wish you got more of it in the spray bottle. I needed a little over 3/4 of a bottle to do my SUV including wheels.
I can't believe how quickly this worked! I would highly recommend this to anyone. The smell is bad but the results are amazing!
Just used the product yesterday on my daughter's vehicle on the rims that showed a considerable amount of rust staining. Worked as advertised, sprayed it on, in few minutes it turned purple rinsed it off the rims looked great. Waiting to try on my vehicle which is white and has several areas that need to be done.
works great and smells just like all the rest lol
I didn't believe this stuff could be as good as people said but it was. I regularly clay my cars but after the first ever application of IronX, my car looked like it was bleeding all over the driveway. I'm guessing it was rail dust from its time on board a train car but still...amazing. And don't discount what people say about the smell. This stuff REEKS but it works so well I'll give it a pass on that.
Smells awful but works really well. Even on dark gray paint I could see the reaction. Worked great on my wheels, too.
It stinks but works great
Awesome product. Will but again.
Awesome product. Will but again.
I've been using IronX type products for decontaminating my vehicle paint for a few years now. This product definitely works well but the smell is of these type of products is strong.I only use it in a well ventilated area, outside the garage. you might also want to consider wearing a mask as well.
I have used many iron removers and I just keep coming back to Ironx. It works well and is effective. What I like is that it stays wet longer while others tend to dry out. The newest formula is less potent with the smell.
Works great! Definitely better than Sonax Full Effect. Smells horrible. The best chemicals usually do though. Great for doing wheel barrel cleanings as most people don't clean them and this will make it a breeze.
This is easily the best iron fallout remover to use for your vehicle. Very effective and strong, but also safe for your paint. The cherry scent does not come through that well, and the smell of this product is very strong and bad. With that said, it's extremely effective so I can forgive the smell.

This is the best iron remover I have used because of its thicker formula so it doesn't dry as fast. Doesn't smell that bad. Just spray on clean paint and watch the purple come out wait 5 minutes and rinse.
works great like all carpro products. i wanted to try this but im a fan of TRIx. It removes it all.
I was surprised how well it worked
Works great....
Effectively removes brake dust from vehicle paint. Like the way it turns purple as it begins to dissolve the brake dust. Gives a clear indication of the extent of contamination. As a professional detailer this product is a must have to decontaminate paint.
Best product on the market for what it does! Brake dust, iron etc. Great on paint wheels, running boards. Hands down the best!

Yes the smell is not really big deal for me FIY if can't stand the smell buy mask at Walmart or auto parts store save me the Aggravation of claying dirt in paint it life saver
Very good product and does exactly what was expected, just like all other carpro products.
Some of the best brake dust remover I've ever seen. Spray on, let it sit. Agitate the surface, wash away. Gets 99% of everything off with minimum effort. Best way to do this is if you take the tire off the car and take your time with each tire. You can get them 100% clean with this stuff. Smells like crap tho. But gets the job done!
Awesome product. Non pleasant smell, but you can see the results almost immediately. Used on multiple cars, stands out most on white paint, you can easily see the chemicals eating away at many contaminants on your paint. Wipe it off and rinse clean. Very simple to use.
Just AWESOME !

Smells horrible but the best iron remover i've used thus far.
Great on cars and wheels. Very easy to apply and remove. Car looks and feels fantastic.
Worth every single penny. Smells like a nasty sewer but is highly effective. Gets caked on metal from rims off. Will definitely be buying again.
What else would I use? I trust CarPro's products.
This product works really well. I was amazed by it, works much better than some of the off the shelf stuff you get from your local APS.
Very good product at removing brake dust on dirty (tracked) wheels. Couple thoughts. I ALWAYS take the wheels off to clean with this product. Think it's actually on the label, but I would strongly encourage you to not get this on brake pads. That being said, it works really, really well at removing contaminants on wheels that are just covered in them. Cherry scent, though? No. Stuff stinks. That said, it works so well it's 100% worth it.
Works great in our shop. Fantastic results every time and smells way better than acid. We can use it on glass too without concerns of damage.
Wow. Such an amazing product. We have a white truck and white suv and they both get the "rail dust" really bad. This is the only product i have found to work. The smell is absolutely horrible. Not sure why they add a scent. Cant smell it at all. But product is amazing!
This stuff worked great made claying easier. It's been four days and the smell is still in my garage. It's worth it truck looks great.
I use this product specifically to clean wheels. I have a 1/2 bottle at full strength and a spray bottle diluted 50/50 with distilled water. For really dirty wheels I run 100 proof, for the maintenance washes I run 50 proof. This product will not disappoint. A little goes a long ways.
I was nervous to use a product that claimed to remove iron deposits and not harm the vehicle. After a recommendation from a friend and reading the reviews, I had to try this Iron X and I was not disappointed. This product is easy to use and it removed all of the nasty stuff that most people do not realize that are on their vehicles. Please note that this product does have a foul odor but worth the smell. I actually moved the product into a spray bottle and it helped with removing the smell from the garage.
I've worked in the automotive detailing industry for 23yrs at car dealerships and I thought I've seen it all but, you just need to see for yourself this product is amazing! I was blown away the first time I used Iron-X. I definitely recommend this product!
I have used mutiple iron removing products in the past. All of them have a sulphur smell. I was hoping the cherry scent would help disguise it, but it did not.
Pro: Product does as advertised. It works in fairly quick. Easy to use and adds value to a detail.
Con: Smell is strong, but is expected. Wear a mask and eye protection if windy.
It can get pricey for high volume work.
Iron X works as advertised. I would like to try the paste form next, for the really dirty wheels that come my way.

It smells like butthole but it works great!
Probably the best of the Iron removers love the results, wish the smell was better but its the sacrifice you make as a detailer, stuff that works doesn't always smell great.
Worth ever penny! Pros - strong fast acting cons - price but among others it's best of the best.

After seeing numerous retailers post this on social media, I decided I had to see what the buzz was really about. I received my item quickly and I was ready to test it. I had a car to Detail the next morning and soak down the rims with Iron-X then used Adams fender brush to agitate the the grime. The product works best if you let the rims soak before rinsing.
Pros: If you have this Iron-x and a pressure washer, you won%u2019t even have to touch the wheels with a brush or mitt. Product is extremely effective on deep cleaning older wheels.
Cons: Has a strong smell. Product doesn't stretch far enough to use as a full time wheel cleaner (in my personal experience). Yes, I would recommend buying it if you're a hobbyist detailer or a professional detailer. It's a really neet and effective product.

Iron x works great! I wouldn't hesitate to buy a gallon again due to how well it works.
I was skeptical about a product that claimed to remove iron deposits and not harm the finish, but based on other reviews I gave it a shot. This stuff is amazing. I use to work so hard trying to get the little rust colored spots off white cars. I used iron-x as directed and was shocked at how easily it removed said spots, and it made the claying process much easier. The only con is it STINKS there is no cherry scent just bad odor. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good.
Great product for removing iron deposits, making claying much easier.
Great product!! Cant go wrong with any of the Iron deposit removers DI sells! They all generally work about the same and smell not so hot.
Applying Iron X on a car makes the Claying process much quicker. Definitely recommend this product!
My E92 M3 picks up heavy brake dust in the bottoms of the door jams, and the rear on the trunk and top of the bumper. This product does a fantastic job of removing the staining and preparing the surface to be washed. Great tool in the cleaning arsenal.
Product works excellent. Definitely a superior product. I get 2 cars out of a 32oz bottle. That's $16/car. I guess the question, "Is that expensive?" depends on how often I use it. I use it every time before I clay, and once or twice in between. BDX by 3D is similar product, and I get similar results. Costs me about $13/car. Note that I still buy both Iron-X and BDX, I like both.
Works well, not fond of the scent but as long as it works that's trivial. I do wish it was made in the US though.
Absolutely amazing for removing rust spots on a white vehicle.
I was always hesitant about these products but this stuff is absolutely amazing. Why spend extra time scrubbing off stubborn contamination when ironx can do the work for you. The only downfall was that I haven't tried it earlier.
Like everyone says, smell is terrible! However, it clearly shows where I had iron build up, especially on my older car.
Great stuff would and did buy it again!
Stuff is amazing, but the smell is awful.
It's hard to tell if this works all that great if your wheels are in good condition on the outside but you see the grime on the inside. For me anyways that was the case. I ended up jacking up the car, taking the tires off, spraying this stuff on the inside and let it sit for 5 mins. I then scrubbed the inside of my wheels with a tire brush and took a pressure hose washer with just water on the inside of the rims. All I can say is that this stuff WORKS. The caked on brake dust melted off the second the water hit the inside of the rim. I then followed up with a clay bar, quick hand polish and some sealant. The rims look good as new. The crappy part about it is that I had to take my tire off to get inside. Since my spokes are very close together, it's hard to get a brush inside to get all around. What I would suggest is, get a set of $20 jack stands, jack your car up, take your lug nuts off, and get in that with your tire off. It saves a lot of time down the road. This stuff is awesome and you will be amazed with what comes off. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.
A little expensive but works well, I use it sparingly, definitely will buy again.
I was hoping it would remove some hard water spots off my hood, no luck. I hadn't tried it on break dust as I already have a degreaser for that.
Pros-works great! I spray some on a microfiber and some on the car then lightly spread it in an areas to not waste it. I use before I clay which saves time.
Cons-smells horrible!
Cons-smells horrible!
This stuff works amazing on all wheels, doesn't really do good at masking the smell with the cherry accent though. I will buy over and over again.
Used it do take off some brake dust rust spots and it worked perfect! I would agree with a lot of other about the smell, it's horrendous.
This stuff smells so bad!!
Besides the smell, it works very well and only seems to take a couple minutes to work, then I just hose the area down. I've added it to my collection and is now an essential step for decontamination

This is something I would never let it run out in my garage.
Yes smells bad, but lift iron particles nicely and works really fast.
Works great for both paints and wheels.
It is high price side and if you use it for wheels like I do, it will run out fast so if you like to save some money,
I recommend getting dedicated wheel cleaners.

This was my first time using this product and I can't complain, this really works. Now, It's my first line of attack to wheels cleaning.
I even tried on paint coat, nice result.

Great product. Removes A LOT of contamination from the paint. If doing a correction detail, this is a must have product. I just wish this stuff was a little more affordable.
Excellent product. Works better than any competitor, as tested on youtube. When used on large wheels (20 in and wider), work quickly and don't wait the customary 3 minutes after spraying.
I found it to be effective on inorganic coatings (22ple, Opticoat, etc) which marr when clayed. The Iron X Iron is a sufficient substitution for claying after a good wash.

Great product, used on a white vehicle that seems to collect a lot of fall out on the hatch. Very noticeable difference with Iron X alone then followed the usual path of clay and such to bring back a beautiful white shine. The smell is awful but the occasional "hey friend smell this" makes up for it.
Been using ironx DI just had a great sale so I bought 2 1000 ml bottles. There are many new entries which I'm sure they work fine, speaking on this product it works and works well. If you never use it to decontimate your paint or wheels grab a bottle you'll love it.
I have used this before with great results and used up what I had...SO...when it went on sale I bought some more. Real pleased with it. I don't mind the smell while it does what it is supposed to do.
Works miracles on rail dust on white truck. Smell is awful but works!
brought it and try it on Lexus gx470 it had a lot of brakes dust and took forever to clean the dusts of
Pro: works great! Con:Expensive, smells terrible! Look for a promo code for this site, becomes a better deal than Ama-zon!
Just used it on a white car detail . .....Amazing stuff. I'm ready to buy more. Simply amazing .
I bought this alongside Optimum's Ferrex. CarPro's IronX seemed to work faster and better than Ferrex, especially when it came to heavily soiled wheels. On the paint, either will do the job but if you have a tough job on your hands, you need IronX. From now on, IronX will be my go to. Now onto the bigger bottle!
Eric with divine detail: I love this product, its a miracle worker! Way to go "Carpro"!!
Doesn't smell like cherries, but it works. If you need it, you gotta use it. Good stuff. Worth buying.
Now I know why everyone buys this, it's amazing!! The only down fall is that it smells absolutely awful, atleast compared to chemicals I'm used to. I applied this after I had foamed and scrubbed my rims. Then applied Diablo wheel cleaner from chemical guys, thought it was clean. Then I applied ironX and my god it was like taking a fluoride tablet from the dentist as a kid and seeing all the gunk you missed. This is a must for drilled and slotted brakes and painted calipers when it hides everything. This is great product haven't found anything from CarPro that wasn't of quality, will be buy lots and lots of this stuff!

I love using IronX for details that involve claying the car, and polishing/coating afterwards. This product definitely works! It smells horrible though no matter the "scent". You must use it in a well ventilated area, and have a mask on to not breathe these chemicals. I typically work out of a garage and having this bottle open for more than 30 seconds stinks up the entire area. I will continue using this product no matter what.
Used this for the first time and was very impressed. it worked very nice I couldn't believe how nice my rims look now. I will buy more in bulk as this will become my go to product for cleaning tires and debris off my car.
The product works as promised. Cherry scent? Only if the cherries have been rotting in the sun for awhile. We can put a man on the moon but can't figure out how to make this stuff smell better? As others have said, wear protection when using it.
Makes quick work of removing iron particles. Smells really bad nothing like cherry. I recommend only using it outdoors.
Great product, will save you lots of time with claying. As soon as I got this I used it on a SAAB wagon (2005?). Washed all jams, did the rims, and washed the car with CG Honey Dew Snow Foam. Running my hand over the wet paint I could feel all of the fallout. I sprayed Iron X on lightly and let it sit. Used the wash mitt with soap and water and rinsed well. For larger tar spots I then had to hit with some Stoner Tarminator and re-wash the area and rinse. The Iron X took off 95% or more of the contaminants, I used it on the lower panels and the trunk. This 1000ml bottle should let me do 20-30 cars using it lightly like this. Well worth the money to save the time and aggravation of claying that much junk off of the paint.
This is literally the worst thing I have smelled in my entire life. Thank goodness it works! It doesn't take long for the liquid to turn pink after being sprayed on the vehicle and is easy to remove.

Oh gosh the smell!!! If you work with this product you must wear gloves and some mouth/eye protection. It is an amazing product however there is no way that you can do anything without taking precautions. I had various experiences using this; one time it was outside with slight wind, that was a no no. Second time was in an open garage, well ventilated and the smell stayed there for a good hour or so. Once you open the bottle it starts to fill up the room with the pleasant pleasant real cherry smell (not really).
As far as product goes, it is awesome and i use it everytime i do a coating, or once a year on my personal vehicles to clean the paint up really good. Highly recommended for some deep decon. of paint!

After reading the DI testimonals and watching some youtube videos, I purchased a bottle of Iron X and TRIX. This is the product that I've been missing all my life (all the cars I've owned have been white). Iron X brought the surface back to its original immaculate state. As others have mentioned, Iron X and TRIX will stain concrete - I found that a pressure washer easily cleaned the mess. Also, this product does indeed have a strong odor. I concealed the bottles in a rubbermaid container.
This stuff really works!!! You wouldn't believe it until you try it, I use it on rims more than anything else, leaves the surface more shiny and smoother. It does stink for the benefits of the product outweighs the smell by far. Would buy again for sure.
After washing a 2013 VW Jetta with 2miles clocked and my boss saying it was contaminate free, one spray of iron-x and 2 seconds wait, the massive amounts of raildust was extremely noticable. This product is just amazing! aside from the so called cherry smell that it really isn't but I can overlook that!
This was a really great product. I thought my wheels were clean until I put this on and saw all of the junk that came off. Would definitely buy again!
This stuff is the greatest. For the first time I caved and bought a white car that my wife loved, and have ever since been regretting it for all the iron deposits in the clear coat. No matter how hard I scrubbed or cleaned, the iron deposits were there for good. One quick spray with the IronX and literally within 5 seconds you start to see it work. No elbow grease, no swirl marks from washing so many times! If you can plug your nose and keep in a well-ventilated area, you will fall in love with this product. I will be shortly purchasing the 1L bottle for how awesome this stuff works. Actually too, I recently bought a white truck for myself after seeing how easy this product made cleaning my wife's car. Never will I again be prejudiced to buying only certain color vehicles... IronX is by far the best detail product I own and hands down well worth the money!
This stuff is awesome. I use it every couple of washes on my alpine white 335i. I never knew what the tiny rust specs (rail dust) was and I did not know how easily it could be removed until I used IronX. I highly recommend this item for pre clay prep. Just be careful to keep it away from brake calipers and wheel balance weights.
Best product I have ever used! Be prepared it smells awful! Well worth the price, I just wish I had purchased the larger bottle.
This is a fantastic product. It works quickly to remove bonded iron particles from painted surfaces, and also works great on wheels. This usually greatly reduces the time I spend claying the car since the IronX greatly reduces the amount of surface contaminates.
I will never do a spring cleaning again without this stuff. It worked great and made claying the vehicle so much easier. It was very easy and quick to use. I used it on a while yukon and had no issues at all.
Works like a champ, smell is terrible. I use tis on every detail job. Watch the purple flow!
Excellent product. Works better then you could imagine. And smells worse then anything imaginable. Great for hard to get brake dust or pre-claying as it will make your job much easier.
I bought this product as well as sonar wheel cleaner based off of recommendations. I like the fact that its paint safe so it's like sonar wheel cleaner for your paint and works the same! Only downside is I didn't buy enough and my spray bottle trigger broke. Just bad luck there. I used it on my wheels that were neglected for a while and I ended up doing 2 passes on my rear wheels and 3 on the front bc if the built up brake dust. I would say to get a protectant after you spend so much time cleaning with this product. No sense in wasting all the work.
I bought this after I read on of these reviews stating that this worked better than Sonax Wheel Cleaner, which I have already tried and was very impressed with. I bought the 100 dollar jug so I could clean my wheels and body panels. After using this stuff, I don't know where that reviewer got the idea that Iron X is better than Sonax. In my opinion, they both are equally effective. However, the fact that you can use Iron X on the body panels was reason enough for me to choose it over Sonax.
I used Iron X on my wheels to see if it really could leech out ALL iron deposits on my wheels. While it did clean the wheels just as well as Sonax, it certainly did not manage to clean off ALL the iron deposits.
So that's my experience. Buy it if you want to use in on your car paint, but don't expect it to be any better than Sonax with the wheel cleaning process.
Cheers.

Used this product over the weekend. First on a set of wheels [removed from the car] cleaning the fronts and backs of the wheels-worked perfectly cleaning every inch of brake dust and crud. Used it on a customer's white Porsche Cayenne [new car prep]-Iron-X displayed all of the impurities in the paint even on a brand new car. This product is excellent and a must have.
Effective, yes... did a fantastic job at what it said it would do. About that odor, though... it is DISGUSTING! I used it in my driveway and the front yard / garage had the faint odor of that "cherry" scent for a week. Use with caution, or use at a quarter-fed car wash then drive home to finish the rest of your steps.
My car is yellow and is the stereotypical garage queen (although I have driven her in the rain). I wasn't sure whether the Iron X would be effective since I didn't have any visible rail dust, but my water supply does have a lot of iron in it. Since I was planning a complete detail (wash, clay, polish, wax) I decided to give it a try on the body panels because I already had Sonax for the wheels. Fortunately, based on the lack of reaction it seems that my paint didn't have much iron contamination. I did get a strong reaction on the body panels behind the wheels. I think one good selling point for Iron X is that it says it can be used on both wheels and body panels, whereas Sonax advertises that it's designed for wheels. Also, be advised that one bottle can probably decontaminate two medium-sized cars.
This is a "must have" in the detailing product arsenal. Very safe, especially around ceramic or carbon fiber brake systems.
Great on car paint and glass - but the best wheel cleaner I've ever seen. An absolutely amazing product. Worth the $100/gallon price.
I bought this for 2 reason, first because my fiancé has a new white car and I kept seeing rust spot all over it from rail dust. It was driving me insane and needed to do something. 2nd I needed a good product for wheels that could really take care of brake dust. This product is amazing when it came to both uses. For the first thing the rail mark just disappeared after rinsing it off and for brake dust it cleans the wheels better then any other product I used thus far. I bought the 500ml first and then bought more 2 days later of the 100ml see to have some when I run out.
Today I had a 2008 BMW 7 series to do that was about a bad as you can get. Wheels looked like they hadn't EVER been touched. First I tried an over-the-counter $7 wheel cleaner just to see how much it would get. After brushing, it got the loose stuff off. But, then again, with a brush - so will water! Then I tried the Sonax Full Effect. Got quite a bit more off. Brushed it too. But the stubburn stuff stayed ... until I got the IronX out! Wow ... just, WOW! Wheels look absolutely new! Now to the paint. The Bimmer is white, so I wish you coulda been here to see the paint turn purple as it lifted the iron deposits out. Incredible!
All I can say is WOW! I have been using full effect wheel cleaner for 2years and it's a great product but this is like full effect wheel cleaner on steroids. I'm not kidding either. I couldnt believe how fast and how much it removes. It out performs full effect by twice as good results. This stuff is amazing!!!
. I recently used this product on my wife's Diamond White 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL. During my spring detail, I noticed a tremendous amount of "rail debris" along the rear hatch and the running boards. The rust blooms were very noticable on the white surface. I was nervous to just clay these areas so I ordered up the Car-Pro Iron-X. I thought about the soap, but after a bit of research, decided that product was not strong enough for my needs. The Iron-X worked great! Removed the rail debris with minimal work on a multitude of surfaces.
I purchased the 1L bottle and just poured it into an extra, clean spray bottle. I had no ill effects on any of the chrome or rubber trim. The only problem is the smell! It smells like the bad part of Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner...terrible smell...but I'll use it again...maybe with rubber gloves next time!

Does exactly what it say it will - heavy odor, but a small price to pay for work it does for you.
Pro: Definitely nice to see all the embedded particles leeching out of your paint. Very simple to use (I simply applied to entire car (after a test spot), waited 5 minutes or so, then washed off (no sponge).
Con: Washing off was a bit of an ordeal as the product penetrated areas that continue to drain for a long while (e.g. trunk light area, most door jambs, side mirrors). I did more than a couple of re-rinses on trouble areas and several extra wipes. Not sure if I did something wrong, but I'd suggest budgeting extra drying and rinsing time.

I had to purchase a product that would clean brake dust that had encrusted and sintered itself to the aluminum clearcoat wheel....looked like someone hadn't washed the wheels in years. I would have liked to see it more aggressively attack the fouling but eventually, combined with a stainless steel bristle brush and 4 hours of work, remove the encrusted brake dust from said wheels. You can see the product react with the brake dust when it turns purple which tells you that it is working. Product smells nice although they cover their ass by telling you to wear a respirator (on the label). Most people won't need to remove hardened brake dust that feels like 1/32" rust on their aluminum wheels but if you do I have not encountered a product that will do it better than IronX....not muriatic acid (Eagle 1 Mag Cleaner), Turtle Wax F21 or Eagle One A2Z cleaner...the off the shelf cleaners work differently than IronX. Remember that this product has a 1 year shelf-life, according to the manufacturer.
