Autofiber added a layer of a hydrophobic material between the microfiber exterior and sponge interior. This prevents excess coating from soaking through the microfiber into the sponge. It also limits excess product buildup which can become gummy and tacky as the coating begins to cure. Not sure I would buy it again. I am a little concerned about the corner stitching. It goes down to the flat surface that you would put against the paint and the corners are a bit hard. Concerned it will cause marring or light scratching.
