Top 5 Best Smelling Detailing Products
by Matt CarterI fell in love with detailing due to the transformations achieved through paint correction. It is incredibly rewarding to see the results of your labor directly. Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in all the different products for each detailing task and the latest techniques forgetting that the process is supposed to be enjoyable! I believe the scent of a product goes a long way in enhancing the therapeutic, enjoyable aspect of detailing so I wanted to round up a list of my top 5, best smelling detailing products. Here we go!
#5 Meguiars D300
Have you ever wanted to lick a microfiber pad? You must not have tried D300 then! Or maybe you just do not like cinnamon as much as I do. Either way, this compound will make you feel like you are in a Big Red commercial. The cinnamon is strong with this one and that brings it to #5 on my smell good list.
#4 Optimum No Rinse
Coming in at number 4 is one of the most versatile detailing products out there and also one of my personal favorites. It is designed to be a rinse-less wash but it can also be used as a clay lubricant, quick detailer and is also a fantastic glass cleaner. The cherry on top is the very pleasant smell. Every time I use it I remember, ‘Shoot, I need to write my best-smelling products article’!
#3 Meguiars Last Touch Spray Detailer
Not only is it a great last step product, very easy to use leaving a nice slick finish, it also lands on the podium for my best smelling products. Bottle of liquid coconuts? Yes please!
#2 Car Pro Eraser/ Gyeon Prep
Coming in at #2 are 2 products I think smell exactly the same (and both perform fantastically as well). I have never put my finger on the exact scent the product is trying to mimic but all I know is that they are taking home the silver in my book. The fantastic smell pairs well with the satisfaction you get doing the final prep wipe on a finely polished vehicle.
#1 Meguiars Glass Cleaner Concentrate
Who wants some grape drink!? Well get some before you take a whiff of this powerful glass cleaner! I am sure you will be ready for a trip to the ER if you succumb to the urge to chug this stuff after you tackle the glass on your next project. Every time I head for some glass cleaning, I think, this stuff has got to be the best smelling product in my shop. So here it is, to claim its rightful place.

What a great topic. I think you’re right about how we all get wrapped up in the latest and greatest or the longest lasting ________ (fill in the blank with whatever). The user experience is so relevant, especially for those whose customers end up being the end user.
Here’s my top 5
IGL Dash
IGL Ecoshine Leather
Optimum ONR
P&S Beadmaker
last one is a tie between Gyeon Prep and IGL Precoat.
Thanks for reading and thanks for the comment! I’m glad you posted your favorites, I meant to ask for great smelling products I missed in the article.
Optimum car wash is my favorite…blue raspberry slurpies
I had a really hard time not including that in my top 5, definitely one of my favorites as well. Thanks for reading!
Do you offer military discount if you do can I combine it with the gyeon 20 that’s going on?
Sorry but my number 1 is Swissvax Concorso. The smell is pure heaven. After applying the wax with my hands I am constantly smelling my hands the rest of the day.
ONR is on my list as well as Nextzett Cockpit Premium which smells like mint citrus!
Finally I always loved the smell of Danase Wet Glaze 1.0. Still have a bottle left over and the grape explosion is amazing.
Yes, I love it, exactly what I was hoping- more amazing smelling detailing products in the list. I need to try some of your favorites.
Back in the late 1980s, Meguiar’s had two products in their Professional line that had fantastic smells. Their Acid Rain Correction Cream smelled like cinnamon, and their Clear oat Conditioner smelled like baby powder.
Got to say I am a big fan of the cinnamon, glad they kept it around in the D300. Got to love baby powder scent.
Never in my career have I said I want the best smelling product out there. Or got on a forum and asked for the best smelling apc. I only want the one that works the best. That’s extra space where I could have had product.
I didn’t write the article to suggest that these products should be considered better than others based on smell alone. This was written to speak to the enjoyable scents that come from some of my favorite detailing products. They are my favorites because they are top performers, not because they smell good. The scent is a bonus. There is plenty of content out there seeking to determine which products are the best of the best with honors and this is an article meant to be a small respite from that.
Which one gave you the best buzz in your testing?
Iron X

Griots Best in Show Detailer….I love the smell of it. After I park my car in the garage and close the door, it permeates the whole garage 🙂 I just love it, leaves my paint slick and very shiney.
Haven’t tried that before but I know the feeling walking out to a freshly detailed car or freshly detailed interior where some nice smells are there to greet you as well. So good!
Chemical Guys Striper scent car wash, Carpro inside,Chemical Guys inner clean,Optimum wash, Griots best of show detailer.
One of the most important things you should look for in an all-natural, organic leather conditioner is natural oil. This natural oil is necessary because it makes cleaning your sofa a lot easier. Without the oil, the leather will become stained and won’t stay clean.
