The Case For Coatings Aside From Use On Paint - Glass, Trim, PPF, Wheel Coatings

Ceramic Coating Sheeting

Many people who are interested in ceramic coating are focused on the certain select attributes of a coating.  There are some qualities that you may find valuable that may be valuable for various surfaces other than paint.  Glass, Paint Protection Film (PPF), Trim, and Wheels. For example, it is just fun watching water easily roll off our cars. What cases would I push for professional or personal application of coatings for non-painted surfaces?

Windshield

You may enjoy water beading like many of us, but safety and long terms savings are an added benefit.  Improved vehicle safety is a direct and indirect benefit of a ceramic coated windshield.  Less dirt build up improves visibility as dirt does not stick.  There is also greater visibility when it is raining.  You are saving money on the back end with changing the wiper blades less frequently.  Also seeing the water fly off the windshield is fun.

Trim and Headlights

When the sun damage has already taken place automotive trim fading, we are dressing more than just protecting.  It makes sense to start with preventative maintenance.   With respect to headlights, I have had successful and unsuccessful experiences restoring headlights, depending on the headlight and the condition.  This is where preventative maintenance becomes advantageous and cost effective.

I believe the decision to get Paint Protection Film (PPF) should always include a decision to invest in a real ceramic coating.  This may be controversial to some, but I feel strongly about this.  There is a common debate between PPF and ceramic coatings.  If the budget allows, I cannot argue against PPF.  But I often tell people for the same reason if you are going to invest so much money into PPF, it makes sense to also have a true ceramic coating on top.  It is not what a lot of people want to hear, but there are challenges with bare PPF.  Chemical etchings from the environment and bugs are more common than many people realize.  I recently had a client who takes better care of his car than most people with damage to through his Paint Protection Film strictly from the environmental fallout.

Wheels

Coating wheels for easier wheel cleaning especially if you are a consistent wheels off cleaner, may not be necessary.  But for many people who find it arduous, this is going to really help make your life easier. Some coating options that I have used are Gyeon Trim, Gyeon Rim and the Gyeon CanCoat EVO.
