Solution Finish: Why it Should Be in Your Arsenal
by Joe MetlowSolution Finish is one of the products that when you first use you instantly say “What took so long for me to try this” Solution Finish is a product that I can rely on to satisfy customers and keep them coming back.
Time Is Money
Running a business is all about making money. Solution Finish adds another spectrum of potential services to offer your customer. The fact that one 16oz bottle can do a countless amount of jobs means that one bottle of solution finish can net an additional $1,000+ by the end of the year! Not only does solution finish have excellent performance, It is also very easy and forgiving to work with.
How Easy Is Application?
The fact that you do not have to worry about getting it on paint or other hard surfaces means YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MASK OFF! That means all you have to do is clean and degrease the surface before application. In the below photos I took my applicator and dabbed it across the painted surface. Simply take a microfiber towel it and wipes right away!
Restoring this trim on this Mercedes camper van. I did not have to mask off the surrounding painted surfaces. Think about the time I saved by not having to mask. Making it a very rewarding profitable job. Simple clean the plastic areas with an IPA/WATER mixture and you are ready to start the application.
The application process is simple (After you cleaned and prepped surface) Apply a small amount of product onto your applicator of choice. My favorite is to use a Microfiber Applicator Pad and massage it into the pores of the plastic and watch it instantly restore.
After you are done working the product it let it sit for a few mins. Upon inspection, You will see some excess high spots simply use a microfiber towel and buff off the excess to a beautifully restored surface.
Solution Finish is a product you can rely on to give amazing results. I always make sure I have a bottle in the shop to offer my customers a trim restoration package. As Detailers, it’s important to discipline and offer a multitude of services to your client’s. Don’t just educate customers on polishing paint, Educate them in every aspect.

Thanks for the write up Joe, this product is really amazing. I have tried and tested it and it’s really good. The final buff off (to wipe off the excess) with a microfiber is key to making it look even better after application. The good thing is it lasts a good while too. The last time I applied mine was right before Easter season 2017 and it’s lasted well till now….The ease of application and being able to wipe it off if it goes on paint is one of the things I really like about the product.
Looks great Joe. Nice write up too. It’s been a product in my cabinet for the past several years. I also work with customers to coat their trim further down the road too. Just give S.F. time to really set up and cure thus why I do it several weeks down the road.
Solution Finish has been in my “arsenal for a few years now. I have a client with a Chevy Avalanche. Her plastic trim was (emphasis on was) gray. Solution Finish brought to back to it’s rich black color. I topped it with Meguiar’s Paint Protect (I hate it on paint, on trim it is killer) to seal in the color.
