Product Review: Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite Cleaner Glaze
by Marc Harris & Jacob BunyanDodo Juice Lime Prime Lite is a pre-wax treatment intended to add additional gloss and slickness to paint prior to the application of a carnauba wax. Based off of the original Lime Prime, the good people at Dodo Juice removed the micro abrasive agents from the formula to create the perfect pre-wax treatment for a properly prepped (clayed and polished) vehicle finish. If you don’t mind spending a small amount of extra time prior to waxing your car to gain additional slickness, clarity, and gloss, you may want to consider adding this product to your arsenal.
Dodo Juice is a company obsessed with wax and getting the most out of paint protection. Hard-core Carnauba Heads prefer the liquid shine of a true wax over a sealant, and likely enjoy the intimate time they spend applying a thin layer of their favorite carnauba wax to their beautiful paint. While fellow ‘Nuba Heads will concede sealants are much slicker and bead water longer, we also like to point out the superior etching protection a fresh layer of wax has compared to a fresh layer of sealant.
For those who appreciate a high quality carnauba wax, using Lime Prime Lite prior to wax application has distinct advantages. The gentle cleaners help to remove water streaking marks which increase clarity while laying down oils which help to maximize gloss. The result means you have a cleaner, clearer paint surface that is slicker feeling. The carnauba wax you apply afterwards glides on much easier which lowers risk for marring the paint while giving you an even more optically pleasing result.
Only use Lime Prime Lite on a properly prepped surface. We properly washed and then dried this Long Beach Blue Pearl NSX prior to applying Lime Prime Lite.
Apply a small amount of Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite to a clean microfiber applicator pad and then gently wipe onto your vehicle’s finish. Work no more than a panel or two at a time before wiping off with a clean microfiber towel. Once your applicator has a fair amount of residue on it, you’ll only need to add a touch more of the product to the pad to continue as shown in the following picture:
This isn’t a product made to sit on the finish for extended amounts of time, and if allowed to do so it will be difficult to remove. If you find yourself in a situation in which you allowed the product to sit for too long, spray a mist of water on the residue to help it come off easier.
Alternatively, you can apply Lime Prime Lite using your Dual Action polisher and a blue pad on a low speed setting (speed 2.5-3 works fine for use with a Porter Cable 7424XP). Keep in mind you’re not working the Lime Prime Lite into the paint, but rather you’re spreading it carefully over the car. In the following picture, you can see how thin the product has been applied to the carbon fiber wing:
Once complete, move onto a layer of your favorite carnauba wax. We’ve found Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite to be a great product to use prior to harder canauba waxes such as Dodo Juice Supernatural (see our in-depth review of this product here), Diamond White, or Blue Velvet.
When finish, stand back and enjoy the look of your car; a look we like to call “Photoshopped in real life.”

Thanks for such a great review. I have been considering to buy this. A quick question – Does this remove water spots from the paint? Is it OK to use on the glass? How do you compare the cleaning abilities with Klassee AIO?
Abi,
Great question, and while this product might have some light chemical-type of cleaning ability, if you have other issues such as water spots, I’d recommend using Dodo Juice Lime Prime (original) and NOT Lime Prime Lite. Lime Prime has slight abrasives as it is meant for non-perfect paint, and that very very slight cutting ability might be exactly what you’re looking for. I hope to have a product review of the original Lime Prime in the future.
Sure you can use this on glass, and I wouldn’t compare Lime Prime Lite in any way to a product like Klasse All In One.
Thanks for the comment and happy detailing!
I just purchased this & tried it for the first time on my car (2007 Infiniti G35X, diamond graphite) and it left an incredible slickness to the paint. I then applied Menzerna PowerLock sealant followed by a coat of AutoGlym HD and it looks superb.
John,
Great to hear of your positive experience using this product. Guys like you that take the time to give your car some proper love will often find your time was well spent 😉
Great review! Dodo Juice is my favorite car car company and lpl is one of my favorite products. I can’t do a detail on my car without using lpl. I like how it makes wax easier to apply, and remove. A little bit of a warning it attracts ladybugs, and bees.
I’m right there with you Brian. I love some of the products in the Dodo Juice line-up (be sure to check out my review on Supernatural, Red Mist Tropical, and some coming reviews of products like Born To Be Mild) and completely agree that it makes the application of a quality carnauba much easier because of the increased slightness.
Great warning to those detailing near flowers during certain times of day or times of the year: consider detailing with sweet smelling products inside your garage!
Is the Lime Prime Lite only for light colored vehicles? I was unsure if it used lightly colored fillers that may attracted attention to any slight imperfections on a darker car. I was wanting to try this product on my gun metal grey Mercedes but wanted to make sure it would work good first.
Marc/Jacob – Just curious, when is the review on Lime prime going to be published? I am looking for some instructions on how to use it for some light correction(water spots/light swirls), pressure and speed and also what pad.
Thanks,
