CarPro’s HydrO2 Wipe-less Spray Sealant was a ground breaking product that really changed the way a lot of people protect their vehicles. This revolutionary product simply requires the user to mist the chemical onto a wet surface, and then rinse it off with a strong stream of water. Afterwards, it was protected for months! I featured this product in a previous article about protecting your wheels called “Seal Your Wheels in Less Than 1 Minute“… it can’t get any easier than that, right?! Well, CarPro has attempted to make it even easier by combining the features of HydrO2 into a shampoo.
The CarPro HydrO2 Foam, also known as HydroFoam, will allow you to wash and coat your car with protection in one easy step! HydrO2 Foam is a pH Neutral shampoo designed to gently lift and remove dirt and other contamination from your paint safely and easily. A special lifting lubricant was added to the formula, which not only allows dirt and grime to be lifted from the surface, but also provide a lubricant that allows your wash mitt to glide across the surface. This greatly reduces the risk of implementing new imperfections in the paint during the wash process! The rich foam cleans the surface with ease, but the other great feature of this wash is that it leaves behind a durable silica shell that produces a brilliant shine and protects your car from harmful uv rays, dirt, grime, brake dust, bug splatter, etc. Use HydrO2 Foam on your paint, glass, plastic, wheels, calipers, and wheel wells. If you are looking to clean and protect your car from harmful environmental contamination, the CarPro HydrO2 Foam is a great choice!
HydrO2 Foam can be applied by hand (without foam gun or foam lance) or with a Foam Gun / Foam Lance. I chose to test the product out using our DI Foam Lance attached to my pressure washer. I mixed 9 parts water to 1 part HydrO2 Foam as instructed and then proceeded to foam the vehicle. When using the foam lance method, you should foam one section of the vehicle at a time, then wash that section with a wash mitt or sponge while the foam is on the surface, and then immediately rinse with water. Continue doing this until the entire vehicle has been washed, then go back and rinse the entire vehicle again to ensure there is no remaining soap residue. Also remember, it is very important that the vehicle remains in a shaded area and the panels are completely cool while washing with HydrO2 Foam.
I found the foam lance application method to work fine, but I personally felt rushed throughout the process. Spray foam, wash panel, rinse panel, spray foam, wash panel, rinse panel…. There was just a lot going on.
When applying without a foaming mechanism, mix a solution of 9 parts water to 1 part shampoo into a spray bottle. Spray shampoo solution onto a panel, or pour solution directly onto damp wash mitt. Beginning at the top of the vehicle, wash one panel at a time, then immediately rinse with your hose afterwards. Continue this process until the entire vehicle has been washed, then rinse the entire vehicle again to ensure all soap residue has been removed.
Once the vehicle has been washed and rinsed, the surface will be glossy and hydrophobic. Water will bead up and roll off of the surface with ease. Use this shampoo when you need to refresh your protection on your vehicle, or if you simply want to add additional protection on top of a sealant or coating.
If you’re looking for a true one-step process for washing and sealing your vehicle, HydrO2 Foam may be a real time saver!
