Preview: Upcoming Detailing Projects
by Todd CooperiderWell it’s been a very busy couple of weeks for me, and I have some interesting details and projects to work on in the immediate future.
Two weeks ago I worked on the Challenge Stradale from Texas (finished article yet to come), and then last week I attended the SEMA show in Vegas along with DI authors DJ Mayo, Greg Nichols, Chad Raskovich, and Eric Schuster (what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…no stories to tell!).
Now that I’m back I have some great details and projects coming up, but with all of the time out last week and the work I have ahead of me over the next few weeks, I won’t have a lot of computer time to do any major articles. Given this, I figured I would at least give everybody some updates so you know that (a) I’m not just slacking, and (b) that you can expect some interesting articles in the near future.
Porsche 911 Turbo
Tomorrow morning I will be on the road by 6am for a two hour drive down south to Cincinnati to spend a couple of days with a black Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. My client and I have been planning this out for several months now since we’ve been waiting for a re-painted panel to cure before we do a full correction detail and a Leatherique treatment. Once I’m finished with it, he’s having a significant amount of clear bra installed on the front end of the car. Sorry…no photos to post as of yet.
Lamborghini SuperVeloce
This car is an absolute beast! How about all wheel drive, 670HP, 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 212mph!!! When I inspected this car, I found the paint to be quite needy…holograms, swirls, scratches, etc. I’ll have my work cut out on the Lambo and will start on it when I return from my 911 Turbo trip. This one will take a while!
Porsche Carrera GT
What a stunningly beautiful car! With less than 1300 ever produced, this 612hp V10 capable of a top speed of 205mph is a great addition to the finest of collections. If you’ve never seen one of these before, don’t feel left out because not many people have. It’s a stunner, and I look forward to many hours with it. This one will get a major paint correction detail, Leatherique, and clear bra removal and replacement.
Ferrari 512 BB
The flat-12 512 BB was made from 1976-1980, and less than 1,000 units were produced. This one is in for some significant work both mechanically and cosmetics as well. As you can see from the photos below, we’ve got it torn down quite a bit. The dash has been removed to be re-wrapped in leather, the seats are out and will be re-dyed, the front end is being re-painted, and then I will need to do some major paint correction on the rest of the vehicle, and match the textures of the old paint and the newly painted sections. These projects are a lot of fun!
So as you can see, I have my work cut out for me!
Stay tuned as there should be some interesting and educational material to come out of these, and some great eye candy as well. 🙂
Todd,
Looks like you have you hands full with some great vehicles, I cant wait to see how the Carrera GT comes out I hope you have some screen saver shots I can get.:) I saw a photo of you and the rest of the guys from DI that Bob from Auto Concierge posted, looks like you guys were having a good time at SEMA.
Danny R.
Looking forward to the write ups.
Wow, those are some EXOTIC vehicles there. Wish I had an opportunity to sit there and watch you work on these cars. Cant wait for these write ups!
Wow!
With that line up you got going, makes the 430 feel like a Honda.
Wow. Great lineup! Definitely looking forward to ’em!!
Todd While the cars are certainly nice. I want a full write up on the 512. That looks like a project I would love to get my hands on. Keep up on all the success!
Thanks Barry…and that 512 should be fun!
Any update on these projects!
Ryan,
I got them finished, but haven’t put any write-ups together though yet…
