New Meguiar’s DA Microfiber Polish D302 & DA Microfiber Xtra Cut Disc [SEMA Show 2013]

by

At SEMA today Meguiar’s unveiled a new DA Microfiber Polish, D302. As soon as this is available we’ll be carrying it here at DI. The polish is less aggressive than the correction compound D300, more aggressive than the finishing wax D301.

From the label:

  • Engineered formula to remove compounding DA Haze
  • Provides complete paint refinement for a defect free finish
  • Perfect intermediate step between compound and finishing wax, for the ultimate finish
  • Easy on, easy off

Here’s a pic of the bottle:

Update from Greg @ DI:
New Meguiar’s DA Microfiber Xtra Cut Disc!!!
Meguiar's Extra Cut Microfiber Pads

This new pad and polish were completely new to me, as Meguiar’s did a good job of keeping this a secret. Therefore I apologize I don’t have any personal experience with them. We couldn’t even touch the new items as they were locked in a glass case! I did get to talk to several of the experts at Meguiar’s and they did share some great insight on these items.

Please note these two products are not meant to be used in combination. The new pad (aka Xtra Cut) is really aggressive and it’s really not for all detailers. It would likely be used with the correction compound D300. They suggested pitching this pad to customers like wet sanding, it’s a helpful and effective tool in certain situations but it’s not for everyone. It utilizes the same microfiber fibers as the other microfiber DA pads but there is no foam, so the cutting power is incredible. It is highly probable you’ll have some haze left behind that will need to be finished down with a lighter pad and polish combo. The polish sounds like it’s a relatively light polish with a bare minimal amount of polymers within it. The polymers were added so the product was more workable, but it’s not really designed to leave a significant coating of protection. They seemed to suggest that we should view it as a light polish and if you want more protection, do an IPA wipe down and use a sealant or wax of your choice.

I’ll be excited to try these products out and see exactly where they fit in a detailing routine. We’ll be carrying them as soon as they are available to us!

Meguiar’s was also excited to announce their new Non Acid Wheel Cleaner (D143) and the Rinse Free Express Wash & Wax (D115). Detailed Image already has these items in stock! Meguiar’s is really proud of the time and effort put in to these products. They are a great value and perform extremely well for both enthusiasts and pros alike.

Lastly for those of us who love the versatile and economical Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner Plus (D103) we were devastated when Meguiar’s discontinued this item. The good news is Meguiar’s is in the advanced stages of testing a replacement item and we hope to have an announcement in the coming months. This product will be an improvement in performance and hopefully at the right price point!
