A bit of an off topic article, well way off topic actually :), but I wanted to share some photos I took on a recent 3 week, 3000 mile trip my wife and I took to Europe. For anyone interested, we basically landed in Belgrade, Serbia, picked up our rental and then drove to: Sarajevo-Bosnia & Herzegovina, Split-Croatia, Trieste, Venice, Milan, Torino, Bologna-Italy, Zaostrog-Croatia. We spent 5 days in Zaostrog on the Adriatic Sea (best sea in the world 🙂 ) before making our way back through Bosnia & Herzegovina and back to Beograd for our flight home. In between we did a ton of driving to smaller places and visiting family. One included a stop by the Rupes factory near Milan, where we didn’t get any photos as we came late and Francesco was kind enough to give us a last minute tour of the factory. It was great nonetheless.
In any case, here are a “few” photos, some with a quick description. Don’t worry, there is some car related material included :)…
Didn’t have my camera for the first part of the trip, so the pics start in Venice…
Goofing around…
Very, very beautiful city, but way too damn big to visit in only a couple of days.
After Venice, we ended up at the Enzo Ferrari museum, which had some great stuff. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to travel to the Ferrari museum in Modena or the Lambo one, so that was the only disappointment of the trip. Either way, we had fun here…
I know these can’t really stay in good shape due to all the wipe downs, etc., but I had to get a shot of the swirl marks as all of the vehicles had them.
They definitely all looked good from a bit further away 🙂
Some more swirls and holograms…
Cool wheels!
Some speed boat outside the showroom…
The main building here had the Maserati’s mainly, but there was a “shop” space that housed a lot of Ferrari history…
The very cool outside of the main building and the garage/shop to the right…
While seeing all my family and visiting Italy was extremely fun, I was desperately looking forward to the Adriatic sea. We decided to go to the city where I would vacation with my family as a little kid and where I learned to swim around the age of 4. We drove all night from Venice to Zaostrog, Croatia (sleeping a few hours at rest stops here and there) only to arrive at our hotel early in the morning and just in time for the beach! These photos were taken closer to evening time… Path down to the sea…
Follow the leader…
Yes, that way!
Ahh, paradise!
This is a monument in memory of some people from the area who lost their lives in the 2nd world war I believe, simple but fairly powerful.
Just a cool shot of a boat we caught coming to shore…
Well, 5 days QUICKLY flew by and we had to say goodbye…
Next destination was Dubrovnik, Croatia, but before we got there we enjoyed a couple hours of beautiful shoreline scenery…
Parked and ready to walk around Dubrovnik for a few hours…
Leaving Dubrovnik after some awesome sightseeing and a great lunch…
After Dubrovnik, we drove for about 4-5 hours back through Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina to end up at my cousin’s home in my birth town of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia & Herz. We went to visit a skyscraper while there and I managed to take a few pretty nice photos even though the weather was poor…
After Sarajevo, we came to our final destination before the flight back home to Chicago… Some damage from bombs ruined random buildings…
But many others are alive and well in this beautiful city…
Well, that’s some of the photos and in no particular order :). Wish I had more car related stuff, but we were too busy enjoying every part of the trip to take too many photos.
Hope you all enjoyed looking at them at least a fraction of how much we did living it and thanks as always for looking!
