Gyeon Q2M Tar: An alternative use that’s worth it’s weight in…Tar?

The main application for Gyeon Q2M Tar is pretty self explanatory. It is used to safely remove tar and rubber from a good day at the track, tree sap on paint, or as a chemical decontamination when you don’t want to introduce a clay bar. Q2M Tar is extremely safe and ph neutral. It can be used on paint, plastic trim, glass, even polished wheels without worry.

But we have found a very valuable alternative use. We all know that one of, if not THE worst tasks on the planet, is removing old Paint Protection Film (PPF). We all use steam and patience to try and remove old film without leaving any adhesive behind on the paint. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don’t.

Where Q2M Tar has come through in the clutch the most in our shop, is during this removal process. Q2M Tar is an excellent adhesive remover. It breaks down adhesive easily, so removal is as simple as it can be with as little marring of the paint surface as possible. Gyeon doesn’t speak on Q2M Tar as an adhesive remover specifically, but trust us it is worth a try when you find yourself…wait for it…in a “sticky” situation. Sorry.

PS: I have heard reports of Q2M Tar not interacting well with some Paint Protection Films (PPF) as a maintenance cleaner. I think it is a bit aggressive for most urethane’s. I would suggest Gyeon Q2M Bug and Grime for PPF clean up or another APC you have used before.
