Dilution Tools

In the world of car detailing, achieving optimal results often hinges on the precise balance of chemicals and solutions used in the process. Enter dilution tools – the unsung heroes of automotive care. These items are often overlooked, but do provide detailing enthusiasts and professionals alike with the means to accurately dilute concentrated products to their desired strength, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and most importantly, exceptional results. From degreasers to shampoos, the introduction of dilution tools revolutionizes the way we approach car care, empowering enthusiasts to unleash the full potential of their detailing arsenal. Take a look below at some of our most popular options to help you dilute your chemicals easily and efficiently.

Pumps for Gallon Bottles

If you have gallon bottles on hand, pumps can be some of the easiest to use dilution options. We carry the Tolco Pump for Gallon Bottle and the DI Accessories Pump Dispenser for 1 Gallon Bottle at this time. Both pumps easily fit into most gallon bottles on the market and dispense about 1 ounce of product with each stroke. These are recommended with products like shampoos that require dilution, but super exact dilution ratios are not needed.

Funnels and Bottles

Sometimes the best way to dilute us using the old, yet faithful items such as funnels. These funnels make pouring products easy and greatly reduce spillage and product waste. We carry the DI Accessories Funnel in 4oz and 8oz sizes, along with the Tolco Vented Funnel , which fits securely in 28mm and 38mm bottle openings. The vent on the side of this funnel also allows the container to vent as you pour, so you can continuously pour without spilling or having to pause to allow the funnel to catch up.

Pair these funnels with any of the empty bottles we carry and utilize the measurements on the side to aid in your dilution process. I recommend the CarPro Dilute or the DI Accessories Trigger Spray Bottle .

Pipettes

Coatings are extremely popular and while you do not necessarily need to “dilute” them, applying minimum amounts of solution to your applicator pad helps you apply more efficiently and greatly reduce waste, which is a key proponent to dilution. If you have a coating bottle on hand and would prefer to use a pipette, we carry two great options in the DI Accessories Glass Pipette and the Gtechniq Pipette.

Spouts & Spigots

Spouts and Spigots are great options if you are dispensing products from larger bottles. We have options for Gallon bottles, 4L, 5 gallons, even drums. These allow the larger bottle to stay in place on your shelf or work station, so no more dumping, dropping the bottles, or spilling valuable chemicals. These are generally made for specific larger bottles, so check out some of the options we carry below:

Proportioner and Twin Neck Bottle

The Tolco Pro Blend Proportioner installs easily, just screw it on and you are all set to start diluting. From here, turn the top cap and the red level will move up and down the Proportioner. This allows you to choose the exact dilution ratio before any use or even pouring. Squeeze the bottle of product and watch as the cap instantly fills with solution. Once you reach above the red level, stop squeezing and excess chemical will drop to the bottle, meaning you will be left with the perfect dilution ratio! This item comes in two sizes (32oz and 128oz) and measures anywhere from 1/4 oz up to 3 oz of liquid.

Twin Neck Measure and Pour Bottle works similarly as the proportioner, but all in one easy to use bottle. With a simple squeeze of this 16oz bottle, the 1oz reservoir will fill. Once it is completely full, simply dump the 1oz of solution into your desired bottle, bucket, etc. This process helps guarantee an accurate pour each time, without the risk of mess!

Thank you for taking the time to post this useful information. Anything anyone can post that allows detailers to have a more user friendly experience is great information. Many times detailers or enthusiast don’t think of the small things that can really have an impact on the way you detail and many not only save you time, but they also save you MONEY, by having less waste and more efficient use of your chemicals. Proper dilutions are one of the most important things in detailing in my opinion. The manufacturers have already done all the scientific research to know exactly what ratio of their product does the best possible job and give the user the best possible user experience with that product. Sometimes the “glug glug” method is fine, mostly with soaps or rinseless washes. But when you get into other chemicals, it can be a problem that can sometimes lead to a disaster you definitely do NOT want to deal with. Case in point, a strong dilution of a chemical that harms the finish of an interior you are working on, or the paint you are working on, or the leather, etc. Do yourself a big favor if you are a new detailer, or even a detailer with 30 years experience, read the labels on your chemicals, and simply use the ratio’s the companies provide for you. Your detailing chemicals should have directions on the bottle with recommended dilutions. If they do not, go with a different reputable company that does provide that necessary and useful information. Having a few of these dilution tools on hand is a good idea and a very cheap way to have a great user experience with your chemicals and maybe save you from a very expensive minor mistake as simple as not diluting the chemical you are using to the proper ratio.

Thanks for posting these useful tools for diluting your chemicals!

ALWAYS AN IMPORTANT PART OF DETAILING THAT IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED.
