BMW 550i: 2 Step Polish & Ceramic Coating
by Ian MartinezThis BMW was pretty heavily damaged and with the client not wanting perfection we settled on a 2-step and no sanding to further remove some of the deeper scratches.
Here are some of the deeper ones, someone tried their hand at fixing one of them at some point.
Was able to get some of them out, or at least reduce them and get out the paint transfer.
Tons of swirls. Send help.
Getting some good results with Griots Garage BOSS combo of Fast Correcting Cream on a Microfiber Cutting Pad and Perfecting Cream on a Rupes Yellow Pad. Using the Menzerna SHCC 300 for some of the deeper scratches with a Microfiber Pad before finishing it with the Griots Garage combo.
With the paint as good as it was going to get for the job at hand it was time to move on to the fun stuff. A good CarPro Eraser wipe down to ensure the coating would be bonding to bare paint. Has the smell of eraser related to polishing being complete wired my brain to be happy? Yes. Am I just like Pavlov’s dog? Yes. Am I fine with that? Yes.
So the Gtechniq CSL Black has been my go-to coating system. Crystal Serum Light topped with EXO is very easy to use and looks amazing.
Overall it was a huge improvement and the client was very happy and that’s the most important thing.
Amazing result… and yes this Bimmer owner would have been a happy client. Do you have any alternative lineup you would employ on a ’16 Silver BMW to get similar results? Thanks for sharing, AgouraM5
I think two step polishing can work for a lot of vehicles. You did some fine work there! Looks great!
How much did you charge for that job?
This job was $1,100
