Ask-A-Pro: Mixing Ratios for Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

Danny ask the DI Team how to properly dilute Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

for this product it says to use 3:1 ratio… does this mean 3 part water for 1 part detailer or 1 part water and 3 part detailer?

Danny,

Anytime you see one of our products with a ratio, the first number will always be parts water. With the Optimum Instant Detailer you have 2 ways to purchase. You can either buy the 17oz size which comes pre-diluted so it’s ready to use, OR you can purchase the 32 oz size which is concentrated to make a gallon of product (mixed at 3:1). If you’re doing plenty of cars, you can also buy the 1 gallon concentrate and that makes 4 gallons of product. If you’re using the larger sizes that require dilluting the product, I would recommend picking up a spare spray bottle for your mixed solution.

Another purpose for Optimum Instant Detailer for me is using it as a clay lube. I will dilute this even further at a ratio of 6:1. You ask why? I cut it down even more because this product has excellent lubrication qualities so using at normal strength would only be wasting product for clay lube. I use this product on almost every detail. It is so versatile and works exactly the way I like. Optimum really hit the nail on the head with this one. Did I mention its smell will keep you coming back alone?

I use Optimum Detailer on door jambs that have been cleaned, removing polishes, in between washes, after a wash to provide a protective layer between my waffle weave drying towel and paint (Check out the How To Article) and even on glass and trim. Last year I went through nearly 4 gallons. So if you’re looking for that slick, glossy, quick detailer that truly does it all, look no further. This is hands down the best quick detailer I have ever used. Who knows how much I’ll be using this year.
