Are you thinking about creating social media content but despite knowing its importance feel hesitant. Do it! You are not only doing yourself a favor, but you are also elevating the entire detailing industry.
My mission is to get you out of your comfort zone. You do not realize how important communicating your expertise is!
Let me tell you a story about one of the reasons I can write to you. One of my inspirations who brought validation to my concept of their being a market for my idea of detailing was Paul Dalton. Watching Paul Dalton of Miracle Detail in UK reinforced in my mind that there are people that not only took this seriously but would gladly pay for premium auto detailing. But I also saw the ugly side of presenting oneself on social media. There was negativity from not only casual observers but fellow members of the industry. What I noticed in the comment section of his videos were people a little too excited to find an excuse to denigrate his business. There were personal attacks lobbied not only at him but his clients. My intuition told me that he and his clients are probably more successful than the critics could ever imagine themselves to be.
The personal attacks are quite ironic. People in the comment section questioning the intelligence of people who care about their car and put much more thought into choosing a detailer (i.e. reputation, credentials, and CONTENT on social media) versus those people price shopping.
Social media and the rise of the keyboard warriors! I have been called a few things on social media and of course over the phone for my outrageously awesome reasonable for me pricing. Do not worry, I use it for motivation! I know Jonanthan Monson of Dirty2Dreamy has stirred up some emotions by adding free value and helping people, coincidentally running a profitable operation.
The trolls only deal in absolutes, not from a place of learning, educating, or adding value. They only pretend to be interested in right or wrong where the opposite is the reality. They are typically just knowledgeable enough to have their make-believe excuse for leaving cryptic and vague comments and popular troll emojis.
This is the reality of the world we live in. No matter what you do, they will be out there. They can’t be reasoned with. They can’t be bargained with. They don’t entertain context or common sense. They don’t feel remorse or pity. They absolutely will not stop ever until they nurture their own bottomless pit of insecurity! But who cares! So let’s give them more content to talk about!
GaryVee “Somebody on the receiving end of your content in their feed decided to take their own time and leave a comment to you that you are not good. Think about this. You should not be upset for yourself. You should be upset for them. Could you imagine how miserable of a life it is that you are so hurting inside that you need to go find somebody else’s content and leave a comment to hurt them to drag them down to your pain.”
