Thank you for reading the Detailed Image Ask-A-Pro Blog and here is to a great 2015!
It was a great year and I look forward to 2015 with DI AAP!
I have a black Hyundai Tiburon 6 speed.. I love it. But there are parts of the finish color has started to go gray. I’ve used Maguire wax on it and it comes somewhat back to black. I have used the 303 product in the interior and leather seats. Shes an 03 and runs well, so if I can strengthen her shell I would be happy.any squestion on getting back the color would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you
Mary
Mary – sounds like the vehicle is in need of a proper paint correction process. Are there visible swirls and scratches on the paint when viewed under direct lighting? If so, these defects will lead to a lack luster finish that may appear more grey than black. The paint correction process involves machine polishing the vehicle in order to remove a fine layer of paint to produce a flat, defect free surface. Detailed Image has everything you will need to do this on your own, otherwise I’m sure there is an experienced professional in your area. If you’d like a referral for someone in your area, please share your location and we can try to help point you in the right direction.
I’m wondering if I can apply this to a boat. Fiberglass. I’m looking for something to bring back the gloss to the boat. Thanks
On a brand new red Indian motorcycle, what are some suggestions to getting awesome results for its very first polishing job?
Steve, it’s hard to tell without seeing the bike in person. First, begin with a very thorough cleaning and decontamination. Then, depending on the condition of the paint you will either perform a multiple step correction process beginning with one or more compounding phases to remove heavier defects followed by a polishing step to further enhance gloss and clarity in the paint.. or you may simply need to do a one-step correction process which involves the use of a medium to fine polish to remove light defects and restore gloss and clarity. Afterwards, protect the paint with a wax, sealant, or coating.
Some popular cutting compounds are Meguiar’s M101 & Menzerna FG400. These often work well when paired with a microfiber cutting pad or a foam cutting pad depending on the amount of cut needed.
Some popular polishes are Meguiar’s M205 & Menzerna SF4000. These often work well when paired with a light cutting pad, polishing pad, or finishing pad depending on the amount of cut required.
