My Favorite Detailing Accessories
by Ivan RajicIt was hard to determine what’s an accessory and what is a tool, but either way here’s a small list that I like to use almost on a daily basis. These make my life easier and my work more efficient. Listed in no particular order…
The title says “clay bar container” and that is how I mainly use it. However, it has many other uses that come in very handy. One is for storing steel wool that we use to polish metal, usually exhaust tips. We’ve tried bags before but that can get messy and bags can get ripped easily, especially when packing to do mobile detailing. These containers are great on the other hand and very sturdy. It’s also great for keeping together little things, like razor blades, nuts and bolts from license plates, etc.
These blades come in handy for the obvious, like removing stickers, stubborn contamination, etc. Just like the container above, these have other uses like cleaning residue between/under hard or stubborn trim, cleaning between panels or cleaning up a hard to reach area. I’ve even used one to remove a pad from a backing plate as it wouldn’t easily separate otherwise.
These seem like a no-brainer, but don’t seem to be used much. We put 1 or 2 inside and don’t have to worry about making the mats dirty when moving the vehicle around the shop.
We use a few of these Einszett bottles that have held up great over the past few years and also some larger sprayers from local hardware stores. These are great for stuff like clay lube, wheel cleaners and degreasers. Not only do you get an even spray, but you’re not cramping up pumping a regular spray bottles for hours every day.
While we don’t do much interior detailing, this stone has come in handy more times than I can count. Not only does it quickly and effectively remove pet hair, but helps clean out other things from carpet and upholstery. It kicks up stubborn dirt, fabric particles stuck in the carpet and similar contaminants. A must have for anyone.
Hope that helps some readers in the process of finding all the rights tools to do the job quickly and efficiently. Please share any of your own suggestions on similar accessories or tools that help you do your job well.
